What many are saying is that while Sony may go bankrupt the PlayStation brand (as the biggest and most popular in gaming) will survive and frankly that's the only thing that counts in a gaming context. Of course it's a bummer for the employees that lose their jobs.

You mean on "these forums" or this specific forum?

It really is now or never. I'm hoping the PlayStation brand will not die with Sony but I would rather they didn't go under at all.

Yes people have, and I think you misunderstand how things like this work. The Playstation brand wouldn't just walk off on it's own and be fine if Sony went under. It wouldn't "be fine." It would need a new source of income, and someone willing to invest the billions of dollars it takes to keep the brand moving. Even if someone was actually make that kind of monetary commitment, and it would take years, they'd have their own agenda that may not be in line with Playstation fans. And that's if the division wasn't auctioned off in parts. Sony flopping would be desasterous for Playstation.

Last time I read, the OP was about Kaz Hirai's strategy going forward with Sony. I don't think what random forum dwellers say or think about the company's financial future should have any bearing on the discussion.
