Lol. Someone is not happy with my comment. I can understand the reason. I will just quit this thread. But I am happy that PS4 is getting lots of Japanese support that will increase its sales. We all know it. Denial from a gaming forum doesn't change reality.
Ryng_Tolu said: Well, even if the last two month PS4 have sold nice, don't forget that PS4 is still below DreamCast lifetime. Any way, PS4 will probabily sell 5,000,000 / 6,000,000 lifetime... Not bad for a home console in Japan, or bad for the PS4 performance Globally... depend. |
5,000,000 to 6,000,000? For real? Sorry, but you are talking about a console that is destroying the competition in japan and aroud the world. Ps4 momentum just begun, it lauched in japan for barely 1 year.
Even considering that japanese market got smaller, i'm sure that P4 will easily surpass these 6,000,000 mark in the next 4-5 years, and whit a good lifecycle of 7-9 years, Ps4 will most likely hit Ps3 mark of 10,000,000, maybe even surpass Ps3...

He said the savior of JRPGs. Period. That's like me saying a restaurant was the savior of the cheeseburger and then someone pointing out that McDonald's has been selling cheeseburgers at a fast rate for years and then me saying "Oh, I wasn't talking about fast food" Yeah, the PS3 did have a lot of JRPGs. So you're invalidating his point further. The genre has never been dead. Sure, it's not as abundant as before, but is any genre besides the shooter and maybe third-person action adventure? |
Yeah, the PS3 did have a lot of JRPGs. So you're invalidating his point further.
i never validated his point either... because the Jrpgs havent died yet (yes they are less present now than before but they are still arround), but you cant deny either that now we are seeing a lot more japanese games jumping on next gen (specifically in the PS4) more than ever in the same time period on the 7th gen.
yes he maybe exagerating but he does have a point the PS4 succes has helped in spawning a reappearance of JRPGs (or simply japanese games) in CONSOLES

This is a thread about the PS4, what is the PS4?...
answer: its a console, therefore one would assume that in this context he is talking about consoles and not handhelds.
when people say stuff they normally say it in some sort of context and right here that context is in terms of consoles given the fact that the PS4 is a console, thats how i read it and according to him thats exactly what he meant.
If PS4 is not doing good in japan, what wiiu and x1 are doing?

Yeah, JRPGs really needed saving. /s
Ka-pi96 said: Not quite the same. Saying it is the 'saviour' would imply quality rather than just sales. Quality isn't really something you'd associate with McDonalds
|
You know what I mean. Both the PS4 and the 3DS have quality JRPGs. Not really the best analogy, but it was the first thing that came to mind, lol.

The home console market will never reach the heights of the 7th gen, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Well, I do, but it makes no sense. |
I agree, the 8th generation will not sell as much as the 7th generation, but this will not apply to all members of the 8th generation.
The Wii U will not get anywhere near the shadow of the Wii, but I'd be willing to bet that the Ps4 will reach numbers next to the Ps3! if this generation has a good size, something that allows a 9 years of life for Ps4, I would say the Ps4 will easily reach the 9,000,000 consoles sold in Japan and there is a possibility of this overcome the Ps3 (ie overcome 10,000,000 million consoles in Japan)
I will not speak about X1 in japan... you know why...
Nice bump, i remember this one. One year in and PS4 is matching PS3 with alligned sales, and still with barely any big Japan games for PS4.
Looks like my prediction of PS4 beating PS3 Lifetime in Japan isn't such a bold prediction after all.

I know you didn't, I was just saying.
The comment just seemed off, that's all. It didn't seem like he was just talking about consoles to me, so if he was, that's my mistake and I apologize.
