Persona doesn't need to worry about competition. It's persona. It's fans will buy it. You think that Atlus will favor a console that sells better in the west over japan for a JRPG? And it's not signifigant in the west, it's signifigant in the U.S. Europe doesn't care about JRPGs.
It'll come to the Vita. Before it comes to the PS4.

Yah, but PS3s have sold what ~10mil life time in Japan? Why would Japanese developers be so quick to give up on the PS4? If Sega is smart they would use the media attention of the P5 on PS3 to capitalize on a PS4 and Vita port as well, considering either versions would be harder to advertise standalone.

Because the PS4 won't well 10m lifetime in japan. The Vita actually might. And Japan vastly prefers handhelds. Why would they just ignore the Sony one that's actually selling marginally okay over there and instead support the console nobody there prefers that's literally about to sell less than the Wii U week to week.
I would bet money that a Vita version of P5 would sell better on the Vita than on the PS3 in Japan.
I wonder why they can't port it to the 3DS. That would sell better than any of them.
