Forums - Microsoft - why are people against having a kinnect free xboxone?

I don't get why people are against having a kinnect free xboxone. they should have made it an option in the first place. I believe this is a very smart move on microsoft's part. I believe because of this,sales will increase a great deal. Price was the only thing holding the xboxone back and now that's no longer a problem. This is exactly what I wanted. I was wanting to get an xboxone at the end of the year,but now I might get one a bit sooner. I believe the kinnect is nothing more then a gimmick,but the option is till there,if you want one. So,it's a win,win for everybody in my book. P.S. I'm old  and don't care that my grammar sucks!!!!!!

True dat!

Well... I would think its cause they were the early adopters and MS kinda dropped Kinect without much of a fight and its now $400 instead of the $500 they paid but I might be wrong

I mean, who wouldn't want to save $100? Kinect is in no way usefull enough to justify that $100 at this stage of x1

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I only know one person on this forum who's spoken out against it. Everyone else seems to be fine with unbundling Kinect.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Anybody against it is more or less mad that Kinect 2.0 failed and they paid 100$ extra for something that no longer has any use

I wouldn't say I am against it, but I really do wonder how it will compete with the PS4 without something unique. I mean every advantage the 360 had against the PS3 is now flipped...AND the PS4 is substantially stronger. In a 1v1 war of attrition, the X1 is screwed.

Kinect is still going to be available and likely supported for the life of the X1. Its not gonna disappear like PS Move. It a very unique device and there will still be demand.

It should be optional, not forced. MS made the right move.

I agree with the person who said that we should add Kinect to the E.T. landfill.

I'm fine with it, I just want games and Microsoft had no real gameplan for delivering on that aspect with the Kinect.

Some people are upset because it did have potential, but Microsoft didn't give it enough support to begin with so I'm fine.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

People bought a 499$ Xbox One thinking that Kinect would be a central piece of their next-generation experience, be it games or entertainment. In other words, they bought into MS's PR talk. Now Microsoft is dropping support for the Kinect by not making it a mandatory part of Xbox One.

That effectively means that people who adopted an Xbox One during the first six months have wasted 100$ and are sitting with a useless piece of kit on top of their box. Not only that, but if they chose to buy an Xbox One because of its "revolutionary" entertainment capability, they are quickly realising that the Xbox One has absolutely failed to deliver in that department as well.

In conclusion, future adopters are happy to save a 100$ and get to play Halo while the ones that supported Xbox One's during its first six months got screwed.
