Finally, my PSP will get some love this year... For how long is anyones guess if this lack of games continue after the 'Big Hitters' :P

It all depends when BBS and Dissidia will arrive . Also now I hope that Capcom will finaly get us Dance of Sparda , and luckily in 09 we will get GTM to :D I cant wait to see what new games will be announced during Sonys Gamers Day and E3 :)

question for the PSP fans:

I would probably get one if they decide to localize the 2 star ocean remakes, my question is, have you heard any plans for this?

The first one should arrive this year . There is no concrete proof , but seeing that the first 2 FF games came , and they where far less successfull than SO , its a shure bet that sooner or later they will come . The second one will only arrive in april/may in Japan , so it will probably arrive only next year in the US/EU ...

The problem is that the DS offers a unique experience in that no other console or handheld has the dual screens and touch screen. The PSP offers a PS2 experience on the go, and some people just don't find that to be enough of a selling point. I personally love both and think each one is better than any console out there.

As far as the PSP2, they need to copy Apple. Sony needs to set up a shop like Itunes which will let you purchase movies, music and games all digitally. The new PSP would need a respectable sized hard drive, at least 80 GB, and yes, hate to say it but multiple SKUs. Everything can be collected in your store and synced to your PSP just like an iPod does. Games can also be available at retail for those that wish to have a disc or whatever proprietary format they choose, preferably carts this time, as long as they can hold the necessary data. Another good idea would be to have a monthly subscription service similar to Steam for games, Napster for music and Netflix for movies. I'm not sure if it would work completely, but it's an interesting idea to bounce around.

sounds like a good idea for the PSP2. Also they need to change the look. I think it needs to have dual joysticks for FPS games and maybe the R2 and L2 instead of one top button on each side for, well anyting. Downloading movies would do much better than UMD. Games might help.

R2 L2 is not realy needed , but a second analog nub yes ... thats a must for the PSP2 .

Alright, I'll throw out the real reason the DS sells better then the PSP, just don't pass this on to Sony though or maybe they'll get a clue.

The DS sells better because.... hold for it... "It's marketed to EVERYONE", it also has games for EVERYONE. The PSP is marketed to teenagers who rarely have the cash to buy games and systems on their own unless they have a part time job. This is part of the problem and most likely the biggest part of the problem.

Parents buy a DS for their kids and themselves and Teens buy it because it's fun for them as well. You'll notice that parents buy kids a lot of games for birthdays and Christmas presents. They also buy their own games to play before bed or while traveling. Working adults have the cash to purchase games.

Teens are the PSP's biggest purchasers and they are also the poorest demographic. They will buy the cheapest version of a game. Market the PSP to everyone and bring games to it that kids and older adults will play and watch sales pick up.  It might be too late though to change the PSP's image.

BTW... GoW looks great for the PSP. I think I'll get it when it comes out on the PS2.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Its true , all your points , why the DS is selling better than the PSP are correct , but you really think that Sony could enter with Nintendo in a casual war ? I dont think so . There only hope is to atract the GB players , and the gamers , who get tired of their DSs and want a bit harder games .

PS : WTF is stil with all of this CoO port to PS2 rumors ? It wont happen , just like it wasnt made with Daxter ... its that easy ...

@Hunter_Alien, it's not a rumor, it was confirmed already on Kotaku I believe.

And yes I think anyone could compete with Nintendo in the same ocean if they so chose too. This would cause Nintendo to have to rethink their strategy. It's happened before, at one time Nintendo had the entire Hardcore market. That changed....
