This guy is 98% right. The only thing I disagree on is that developers, analyst and game journalist are fanboys too. Sony having Insurance, Music division, TVs, Phones, Movie Division and Laptops can make fans of Sony. The media is in bed with these mega corporations (Microsoft too) and want Nintendo out. You know it's bad when game developers and analyst talk with hate openly about Nintendo. I remember the doom articles and videos before the Wii U launched. What was Nintendo thinking naming it Wii U, It will be irrelevant when the new playstation and Xbox comes out, Nintendo needs new IP's...... The fact is, the Wii U eDRAM is better then the PS4 GDDR5.

The fact is, that this is still completely made up, don't talk about stuff that you obviously don't understand.

That apply to you too.

People confuse the conspiracy with reality. There is no organized movement by third parties behind the scenes to make Nintendo systems fail. So there is no conspiracy. There is, however, a reality where it is in the best interests of many third parties for Nintendo to not be the lead platform because a) they don't want to compete with the world's biggest software publisher b) they want their titles to be the lead games on platforms (ie COD on XBOX) and c) Nintendo will not build hardware to the specs 3rd parties want and sell it at a loss to make 3rd parties happy.

Good post.

I'd just add to that:

d) demographics ... Sony/MS market almost entirely to the same demographics that the majority of the third parties do, at least with their big gun franchises that being hardcore male gamers aged 12-35. So that makes third parties favor those platforms more for games like Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid. You notice there is no bias against Nintendo from most family/fitness based third party titles ... Nintendo gets all the LEGO games, Disney Infinity, Skylanders, Just Dance, fitness games, Scribblenauts, Sonic, Rayman, etc. Why? Because Nintendo has Mario, DK, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Pokemon, Kirby, etc. and third parties figure the demographics are there for cartoony/family/casual based fare. And Nintendo markets specifically to the family/kid audience.

Beyond that I don't think Iwata-era Nintendo really bothers to engage Western 3rd parties much or at all on a regular basis. They work with Japanese devs on things like Monster Hunter and Yokai Watch and Dragon Quest bundles ... but in the West? Almost nada. I think they are simply out of touch with the Western dev community that is aggressively courted by Sony/MS all the time.

This. Bravo. Perfect.

It needs to be quoted.

I doubt there is any great conspiracy behind making Nintendo fail, but if there is I personally hope it continues. All the things he thinks makes publishers etc scared of Nintendo being succesful are the same things I hate about Nintendo. I don't want silly gimmicks I just want more powerful PS or Xbox.

I found my soul mate! Except that you're an Xbox fan, but other than that high five mate, I approve of this posts sentiment!

Not just Xbox, I like PlayStation as well.

Without NIntendo gimmicks there won't be some of the functions you like on the controllers like the rumble.

For various reasons, Sony and Microsoft roll out the red carpet for third party developers as a group. Nintendo focuses on very specific third party partnerships, if anything.

Though we do still have to wonder with what happened to EA's "unprecedented support."

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Good 'ole John Lucas, alive and kicking. This guy would say anything to keep Nintendo free of any responsibility for any of their troubles.

That isn't John Lucas...

i don't know if this is an inside joke, but that's definitely not him.

When I get to a computer, I'll link a video of an interview with Lucas, they do not sound alike.

It really needs to be something very big to see EA ignoring Nintendo.

I agree, especially since we had that very public, verbal commitment of "unprecedented support" E3 2011, which devolved to average support by E3 2012, which by New Years 2013 had devolved into "absolute 0 support once we release Need For Speed, even beneath our NFL contracts." How do you go from very high to absolutely nothing in that amount of time? EA was known as the publisher that would make games for anyone, and were contractually required to do so by several of their licenses.

Not to make this into another thing about EA specifically, but it does highlight that unusual things happen between Nintendo and third parties that are beyond the pale of "normal" interactions for Sony or Microsoft.

EA really doesn't have any franchises that would sell well on the Wii U and I think EA correctly noted that Nintendo's plan for the Wii U was going to be a clusterf*ck (a lot of people were saying it already by E3 2011) and it wasn't going to be a huge seller like the Wii was.

Activision has Skylanders and various kids license IP (Transformers) and Ubi Soft has Rayman and Just Dance, I think that's why they were willing to support the system. Take 2, like EA doesn't have a Skylanders or Just Dance and they like EA also ignored the Wii U.

I think it's just sensible, if Call of Duty can't sell on Wii U, what really is Battlefield or Madden NFL supposed to do other than waste EA's resources? They made the right call business wise.

Heard the interview, two completely different settings, as someone also explained on his channel and not really comparable. They use the exact same arguments, have the same telling nickname (Black Luigi), precisely the same agenda, exact same interests and the same ludicrous conspiracy theories. JL has operated on several forums, some with the same name, others with different ones (amazon boards, joystiq, nerdmentality, democraticunderground, to name a few).

Agree. Now that Nintendo shows they're incapable of making enough games in a short enough amount of time, it's time to change that "policy".

Yep.
