Forums - Nintendo - The real reason Wii U is considered "underpowered"?

The CPU on the Wii U lags a little behind the PS3 and 360, let alone the PS4 and One. The Wii U also has no hard drive, a fourth of the RAM of the other consoles, and a much different (and inferior) architecture.

But the biggest problem? The idiots at Nintendo named it after the FREAKIN WII. C'MON.

A lot of consumers associate Wii as being far behind the 360 and PS3 in terms of power, so that stigma carries over.

I still prefer my Wii U to my PS4 (at least until the PS4 gets some actual games out), but Nintendo screwed up big time.

I dont think the biggest problem is that it named it after the wii cause the wii was a hit and a well known name with the casuals... But the biggest problem imo is the U after the wii cause no one knows what the heck a wiiU is, specially the casuals... If they named it a Wii2 or WiiHD or WiiFapU or something that actually makes sense in English that didn't confuse the customers, I think it would have sold more cause for the longest time, all the consumers were thinking is that its a $350 tablet accessory

After all said and done the PS4 just has a million & half lead.  It has loss Japan early.

The X1 uses so much power!
Less energy should used by devices these days not more, so the Wii U is the best in terms of consumption.

People say that because it is less powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One.

I think nobody notice all the sarcasm in the OP or maybe is just me

Does anyone else not see a graph or is it just me?

I don't see a graph, either.

I do see a chart, though.

Wii U has some nice looking games but I would take a PS4 or Xbox One over it. I have a PS4, PSVita, and a Wii U for this generation

It's the other way around for me.  Wii U is the alpha & omega.  I would take the XOne next for Halo.

I like the gamepad but in my opinion it does not add to most games so I would just rather use my DS4. Also the visuals are better. lol

Lately I have been playing my PC the most though (Civilization 5 to be specific)

It just has a million and a half lead, but it's been out in the market only six months compared to the year and a half the Wii U has been out.

No, it's not just you. The number of responses in this thread where it doesn't even look like OP was read is unbelievable.

But, even though the Wii was popular at the beginning of last gen, casuals moved away from it due to smartphones and its last three years were mediocre. This generation is all about the core market, and Nintendo didn't anticipate that, so they tried to build on the Wii, but in the process just made some core gamers shy away from it ("Wii" is practically synonymous with "casual"). Naming it something original would allow them to rebuild their identity with core gamers, but Nintendo didn't look ahead and it bit them.
