As a piece of hardware I really find it amazing. It may be inferior to PS4 and XBOX One, butNintendo consoles usually are. It's the games that really make us buy it, and it lacks those. Granted the library is much better than last year at this point and games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros are in view, I'd say by the end of 2014 I'd be pleased with it. I love the games available for it now but there's not enough. Quality before quantityis a good standard for companies, and I don't mind waiting 3-4 months between games as long as they are endless like sandbox games or have competitive online.

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015
Thanks for all the great memories!

The way I see it, they're getting better at it. Though, The first year was definitely a little painful.
I was in group 2, and converted to group 1.
And I agee with you on the "paving the way for the future" thing.
I'm really looking forward to see what they do with their next console, especially since thy should have learned some hard lessons with WiiU.
Nintendo handling the Wii U fine. They just need coffee. After E3 everyone will be singing.
The only thing Nintendo can do is continue to release good games, placate their hardcore fans, and hope a chunk of those who buy the PS4/Xbox One buy the Wii U as a secondary console. If a one-fifth of those who end up buying the PS4/Xbox One buy a Wii U then GameCube numbers are doable.
"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind I am a game developer. But in my heart I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

I'm not that crazy about Iwata-era Nintendo period to be honest. I still like Nintendo's EAD dev teams, but 1990s Nintendo >>>> current Nintendo IMO. Very early 2000s was OK too I guess, but by 2003/4 IMO, Nintendo has never been quite as good as they were from 1990-2001.
You would not see games like GoldenEye, Killer Instinct, Wave Race, 1080 Snowboarding, Star Fox, being made in the modern environment that Nintendo finds itself. Iwata's Nintendo does not trust Western studios to be able to develop anything but established franchises, and even then they're like a dog on a leash, only allowed to work on one game at a time. Retro Studios wouldn't exist either I don't think, the only reason Retro is around is because Howard Lincoln invested in them in the 1990s and Iwata kinda got stuck with them (he did get rid of Rare though).
The only risks/chances Nintendo takes nowadays is on soccer moms, who have all ditched Nintendo once they found games on their iPhone, and Nintendo can't compete with Apple/Android for adults, they just don't have the "cool" factor going for them (and they can't market for sh*t either).

yeah just like they after last years E3, right?
I miss a futuristic FPS, otherwise the console is what we expected it to be.
So far, Nintendo has a pretty OK-ish job with the WiiU! I would be slightly happier if they would announce a new Star Fox game!
