No personal experiance of Steambox, but do not need one to give this advice:
If you like the GAMES Steambox offers then go for it.

Buy a ps4 put a nintendo sticker on it, pay for 5 years online and you'll still pay less than buying a steambox

You wouldn't be able to play much on SteamOS, but if you really want it then go for it.

I'd say getting a PC from CyberPower and the likes then installing SteamOS on it would be a better value than any Steambox out there.

Are people still droning on about PC gaming being so complicated? If you can use a Mac to browse the internet and service a modern day console, you can use a gaming PC. This isn't the early 90's any more.

Steam Machine is the worst thing you can buy. You don't need to know anything about building PCs, just go to any PC seller, tell them you want a gaming PC and the amount you're willing to spend, and you will have a much better machine. All of the new PCs can be connected to the TV, as well.

And it will probably be much easier to upgrade your PC as demands rise. You again just take it to the shop, pay for the part and they'll replace it for free.

Steam Machines are going to flop hard as they will only get Indies. I use Steam for Ubuntu and there are seriously nothing but Indies on it. Put that with an annoying controller and the fact a PS4/One will get more performance and better games for the same price (or less depending on the Steam Machine you get)

You seriously should just get a PS4. You are coming off as very closed minded especially since you can install steam to any Linux PC and have a steam machine......

It's way too early to tell to be honest. We have few specs and have no idea how game support will pan out beyond Indies and Valve games. I suspect we'll see some AAA titles from third parties but the first year will almost all be Indie games.

I would recommend waiting a year after they're released to see how well supported the Steam OS actually is. If it looks like support is growing and some interesting games are coming out (that aren't on WiiU) then jump in and buy a Steam Box. Otherwise, you may spend a lot of money to play some Indie games that could be played on a very cheap PC.

Firstly, almost everyone agrees the ouya is a piece of crap.

Secondly, the Ouya doesn't do what he wants at all.

That's a contradiction.

Windows is terrible and everyone who knows anything knows that. I'll give you an example. Every time there's a new MS Office then the Libre Office suite is made incompatible with Office on purpose just to maintain MS's monopoly in the corporate space. People are essentially forced into thinking that open Office software are a source of headaches even though Libre does 99% of what MS Office does. Not only that, but the monopoly is kept in tact in other devious ways that are too complicated to mention here.

In the OS space, there are perfectly user friendly versions of Ubuntu available for free yet people keep on paying for Windows. What to mention of anti-virus software.
