Yep, you're right.
But: When the devs just simply stop producing these over the top high end games, gamers can complain what they want, these games aren't going to be there.
In a way I guess the success of Wii might be the saviour of the industry, they just don't know it yet. In 5 years, if WiiHD will come out, which will probably slghtly more powerfull than PS3, the production of high-end graphics will have decreased dramatically in costs. The industry might need a few years to focus on their business side more and in the meanwhile produce good but cheaper games that make good profits.
Of course the HD consoles can remain profitable as well, but a company can make less mistakes. A bomb of 30 million can be the end of a developer, or at least a big problem (Stranglehold).
Oh I do not like this. One of the things I liked most about Wii online was not paying haha. And I was hoping that would be for all games. But it seems that now some games will have it, and I really am not particularly happy with that. Even if it is just for some games. I'm glad they are going to start DLC, but paying to play online for some games is just not good. I'd take the shittiest online setup over paying to play it.

Bod, again I thank you for being such a cool dude and helping me out that one day.
I am WEEzY. You can suck my Nintendo loving BALLS!

This seems fine to me.
Without this - there is no real incentive for Ninty to make a "mega" online game - and continue to develop content for it.
My guess is that Animal Crossing (online) will be the first game to do this. It may have a single player component - but it may cost a few points to play online for a period (say a month).
...
This won't be for *normal* games - that just have online play. Mainly for persistant ones.
...
My guess is they have been wondering how to keep building their revenue base - and have enviously been eyeing off WoW - with almost 200m in revenue a MONTH.
Its also the introduction to the most obvious (persistant) online games from Ninty:
- Animal Crossing online
- Pokemon online (you know the next DS will allow you to play online on the same game as well - maybe even the DS 1)
- Zelda online??

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
This should just be for MMOs.
...or so I hope. :|
Thanks for listening. There is this MMO for PS3 the Agency or whatever that was...I think that's free to play...but they recover server costs through downloadable content I believe. But otherwise, Sony's fronting the cost I think. No normal third party company can pay for an MMO out of their own pocket...that does not make sense!!
So again, people that say oh, Wii should be free online. IT IS, this is not Xbox Live where you have to pay to play a simple online FPS or something like that. But no system can reasonably support an MMO with all the requirements they take without taking a fee from users. Unless Nintendo paid for all third party servers, Nintendo needs to support a way for third parties to charge for MMOs.
It's either make a system for developers to charge customers fees for certain content, or those developers will not make said content, because it would be in no way profitable for them to do so.
That's why you don't get a new TF2 map on 360 and PS3...it would take a considerable cost to put those maps on the consoles, and it's not worth it to Valve to do it, unless they charged for it. But of course...not enough people would probably pay for 1 map...so I doubt they'll ever do it.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

*cough*GuildWars*cough*
I don't think Nintendo will make this for all the games guys! Stop acting like bitches! (a lot of fanboys are probably saying wii will lose 3rd parties and customers. poor ps360 fanboys.)
This will help 3rd parties a lot! (capcom especially because of monster hunter 3!)
But, Nintendo definitely wouldn't make it like live expensive! (50 bucks)
I think it would be around like 20 or 15 bucks to play the special online games and mmorpgs on the wii. (mh3)
@ssj12
that was wrong! mods should influence not destroy threads!
Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.
Wii: 135 mil
Ps3: 85 mil
360: 60 mil
@daactualfact: Your sig is a bit long, no? It takes up more than a full page, and my monitor is 1680x1050!
