Forums - Microsoft - Boogie said, 'smash your kinect' hear his reaction to a X1 without Kinect

People here seem to have had good experiences with it but the few people I know an Xbox One they all do not care for Kinect. They keep it unplugged in fact.

I have not seen this happen but this is what they claim happens

They will be talking to their wives in the kitchen and they talk to their wife (or who ever) and the Kinect unpauses their game. It happens at my friend's house whose game room is right beside the kitchen.

I do not think removing Kinect will effect sells all that much for the One but it was a good move by MS in the long run. There is no way in h*** I would have bought an Xbox One with Kinect. Now that Kinect is removed and I can use it to watch Netflix without Live I will probably buy one when it gets 300$ or below

There's no reason voice control can't work with other microphones, including the XBone's bundled headset.
Boogie's worry is about Kinect development losing steam,
but if it is about voice commands, that can be compatable with PS4 as well, so that aspect is unfounded IMHO.
Many usages of Kinect as "auxilliary control" can also be equivalently implemented with Sony's controller light + camera tracking,
so while it would be a BIT more work for 3rd party devs (which the APIs should lessen if they are good),
they could still engage each platform's "motion control" feature with appropriate control schemes.
Actually, PS4 now has MORE built in motion control with 6 axis built in on all units.

I don't get the defensiveness over referrring to the change as "backpedalling", that's what it is: changing previous policy.
The reason they are doing it is because the policy change makes sense and will be of benefit to them (and XBone install base ecosystem overall),
so one can believe it is a good thing they are making the change, while still recognizing that it is a "backpedal".
The term "backpedal" may have an implication of inconsistency and reactiveness, but is not a judgement of the validity of the new policy itself.

He hated it up until Major Nelsons vist?

Yes, he didn't like it and didn't want it. But then after having and Xbox One with Kinect and learning how to use it.  Plus his wife uses it and likes it too.

I think some people expect it to translate everything instandly for you.  It's not like they. It wants things said in sort of a certain way. If you can adapt it's cool, if you can't I could see how it would be frustraing.

Like how horse and buggy drivers got frustrated trying to learn how to drive a car.  I'm sure some were thankful the 'horseless carriage' would never take off.

Like I said before I'm still glad I bought my Xbox One with Kinect.

More proof that you are smart!

Glad you like it, and congrats for coming out of the 'Kinect Kloset.' lol

Lmao, I don't agree but this was still funny for some odd reason.

Its not like Kinect is going away people. Don't get why you're up in arms. Fact is, this was how it should have been day one. It should be an option, an accessory.

The multiple sku strategy MS did with 360 was a winning one, appealing to different markets at the same time. Better now then never.

If people want one, they will get one. If those that get one say it's great, more people will follow them.
