Favorite RPG series, Final Fantasy,(XIII tainted the series) Golden Sun, .Hack//, Suikoden, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts,Tales, Pokemon

The current state of JRPG's is kinda sad, it seems that the internet has to beg for every JRPG to get localised; something like operatin rainfall or #JRPG vita shouldn't really have to exist, does the east really have such little faith in the west? gens 6 and prior were more of a given PS2 era was a Godsend compared to 7th gen.. I look at today's young gamers and they seem less interested a a well, long crafted story. All that matters is multiplayer/co-op, shoot this person, attack that monster, and thinking owning rated "M" games make you a "hardcore gamer" My young and upcoming gamer in my family get bored out of the minds when I play certain JRPG's, devs seem to be facing kids that have a short attention span that have to be fed non-stop action so they can finish a game.

I still stand by my theory the anime and JRPG's(and Japanese games in general) share a certain symbiosis, when I was a kid toonami was the shit with 2 then 3 non-stop hours of good anime, Syfy's Ani-Monday or WB 11& Fox for kids with a variation of anime and cartoons. and when in scool that's all we talked about, and any games that imaged the anime we watched we bought. Now toonami is just a place holder for adult swim's usual Saturday anime line : kids really don't watch since it begin 11:30 at night and Cartoon Network, Nickeloden, Pix haven't really invest in new anime, you really have to go online to find good & popular anime

I think that the JRPG genre is making a huge comeback with systems like the PS3, 3DS and Vita getting tons of localization recently, and with next-gen games like X, Final Fantasy XV, and Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out soonish

I started on FFVII so Final Fantasy is my fave series. In the SNES/PS1 gens players were really spoilt for choice in terms of JRPGs.

All time faves:

Final Fantasy: Great in the SNES/PS1 days, good on PS2 but catastrophically terrible last gen. I still have hopes for XV.

Chrono: Only ever played Chrono Trigger, but that game alone if worth mentioning.

Grandia: Great series

StarOcean: Never actually completed any of them, but had fun playing them

Tales: Played Phantasia which was brilliant, then didn't play any of them for ages. Just got Xilia on PS3 which seems good so far.

And more recently, Xenoblade: My fave JRPG of the gen.
