There was a rumor circulating that they will announce a $150 price for the new slim model at E3. But since I hate rumors from "reliable sources" I didn't bother bookmarking it.

Why would a $20 price drop do anything at all? Perception?

With 3rd party support vita is sold poorly even if it cost 50 dollars
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
PSVita/PS4 (official) bundle nowhere to be seen.
They better have it by Christmas

This. Until Sony tries to get more retail games localized in the west, the Vita is going to continue to fail. Imo the Vita is beyond saving and Sony doesn't give a shit.
Instead of "soon" schouldn't it be "too late"?

me either. if they want to drop the price drop it to 149$ where it might give it a slight boost or keep it at 199$ were it will at least generate more money with the same sales of a 179$ console. IMO they should have dropped the vita to 179$ last year instead of dropping it to 199$

Gamecube dropped to that price and wasn't saved. Won't work with the Vita or even WiiU.
