Forums - Microsoft - Ryse Son Of Rome still the best looking console game?

Nope infamous. Not only that but it looks better despite having the disadvantage of an open world. Ryse is really just small corridors. I would say ryse looks more on the same level as killzone shadow fall.

And take note of what he says at the beginning of the video.  "So welcome to what I think is the best looking next gen console game so far."  Considering he's played this after Ryse, means he obviously doesn't think Ryse is the best looking.

Noticed that as well heh.

But yeah, I agree with some of the posters above about the character models. The level of detail for those in Ryse is second to none. Overall though, when you factor in enviroments, visual effects etc InFAMOUS does looks better to me. Which is pretty darn impressive considering its an open world game.

Infamous SS certainly plays better - it really doesn't look better. Then again, Sucker Punch didn't set out to make a visual showpiece, whereas thats how Ryse was intended.

Yes it does.

I am not sure which part of my post you're referring too lol

Good point ^^

Have to say though i do find it hard to be impressed with a game that can't maintain 30fps on a resolution 44% lower than 1080p ;/

It never was. The game looks mediocre in motion. GOW Ascension looks better in some cases. Especially the animation and character movement.

@zekkyou i played the entire campaign twice for the hard and hardest difficulty and i experienced little to no slowdown. at most it was a tiny one during cutscnes.. during gameplay it was fine, its not as bad as peopl make it to be.

@DOG -- you know kratos is a god and marius is a roman warrior. You can expect people in marius era to move and be animated in a way kratos is. Its meant to replicate the realistic movement you woudl have seen in those days which it does beautifully.

I think infamous looks better. Sometimes I just had to pause and look at the scenery to take it all in.

I'm not talking from a gameplay perspective, i'm talking from a technical one. Sure gameplay wise periods of 26 - 28fps feels about the same as 30fps, but from a performance stand point consistently falling bellow 30fps at that resolution is pretty bad...

I do have plenty of praise for Ryse (such as it's excellent AA method, SMAA 1TX i believe it's called), but it's pretty obvious by its performance issues that they were forced to rush through optimizing to hit launch :/
