Kinect is the one area where Xbone offers something relatively new and different.
Drop Kinect, and what's left behind is pretty much just a weaker PS4. In such a scenario, why should people go for the second best choice, unless it's at least significantly cheaper? And just trying to be cheapest is not the best business model. Much better to offer something that the competition doesn't.

They built the X1 strategy around Kinect and removing it will just show they have no faith in their own product and that is a PR disaster waiting to happen.

So its unlikely KInect will be dropped. They will probably do a price drop and just take the loses, if they fall way behind in the sales game and that's a big IF and depends what way behind is to them.

Well, looks like I know which system I am going to get this holiday season........unless Sony announces Crash Bandicoot or Jak for the PS4, but that will probably not happen!

So it begins. Bound to happen because Xb one is literally failing in most of the markets in which it is selling, and at a more expensive price point and almost a year late to market it would do even worse in the September launch markets.

However, for a fatter box with weaker hardware under the hood is an equal price really going to cut it?

I'm also surprised they did this pretty quickly. I expected them to do this on the next year. Makes me think they are willing to sacrifice the Kinect for the console's wellbeing, even if it was built to function around the Xbox One. Will it be successful? Definitely. But there's still a lot of time until June. Anything can happen.

uh, no, that 60 gig model that people paid 600 dollars for dropped price to 500 bucks in april...  That is what you call a price drop and a shaft to the people that paid $100 more just 6 months earlier.  

Also, I worked at Best Buy at the time, those 60 gigs didn't go anywhere even at that price.  we still had them around until the 40 gigs were released and they dropped to 400.  Then we were finally able to clear them out.  

edit: plus you coul still get a BC unit up until the slim came out.  The 80 gigs didn't go anywhere until then.  Those metal gear solid 4 bundles that came out right before the slim all had BC.

No because there was still 2 models. The people who wanted to pay 500 before the 60gb came out could have bought the 20gb and the people interested in spending 600 still only got another 20gb on top of the original 60gb. If early adopters got shafted then so did the people who bought the 80gb, 120gb, 160gb, 250gb and 320gb because there is a 500gb out for the same price

well the rest of 2014 for ms is most likly sunset, qb, halo2a, and horizion 2  and chances are well get the games coming next year at this e3

I keep seeing posters peg QB for 2014.

This is from the studio that took 5 years to make Max Payne and a further 5 years to make Alan Wake. Unless it's officially confirmed with a set launch date for 2014, my bet is on 2015.

the insider that has been right about lot of things said its a 2014 release  which is why i think we all belive its coming this year
