Forums - Sony - How much Sony pays Indies to be free on PS+ and more

Hmmm, so $500k for one indie title...

Each month we get at least 1 PS4 title, 1 PS3 title and 1 Vita title, so IGC costs Sony $1.5m AT least per month (since you'd imagine stuff like Bioshock/DMC might be more expensive)

Before PS4, PS+'s userbase was about 1-2m, but that has tripled. Given it's about $5 per month, seems like Sony is still getting some money out of, but that just seems to be guess work

The question is, will Sony only do the development deal with them if they put the game up for free? Because maybe you only get the free development deal if you offer the game for free for a bit at a discounted rate.

But anyway, when AAA games are going to cost you at least $50m, it's probably a good idea to spend less than half that to get a decent stream of indie titles to the PS4 and Vita. Just so long as they keep pumping out those AAA titles too

holy shit if true! That's a load of money, unless we're talking Minecraft PS4/V here

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

They dont just up and give you 500k. They give a certain amount per downloads.
So as a made up figure, lets say $100 per 1000 downloads, assuming a million people download, thats like $100,000 (Emphasis on this being made up figure)
The dollar per certain number of downloads is never the same, is based on whether the game is new or has been out for a while etc.
So thats like $0.10 per download, lets say around 6 new games per month, so for each induviduals persons sub per month is 60 cents per user per month if they download all games, $7.2 per year from your $50 subscription.

So that is how Sony makes money from ps plus and how indies and other devs make decent amount of money, for indies 100k is usually good enough for their ps vita game for example, and lets estimate there are now 6 million ps plus users, 600k per game is possible (obviously once again made up figures but the system of how it works is correct)

They are getting this amount to put their game on PS+ for free for one month ON LAUNCH. They've already made more than that through Steam early access so Sony obviously considers it a good game to snatch.

Just remember that (some of) the Indie games are on PS+ on launch. This hardly happens to AAA games.

I'm not sure. I was too excited by his PS+ news to ask that. My words were, "you're living my dream man" hehe. Their publishers says take the money and run, so they'll definitely take it.
