I'm sure most of us have heard of games that get a ton of praise and are very well known amongst the gaming community, but what about the lesser known games who you hadn't really heard of until recently (recently is being used as a relative term here, as in the game becoming increasing popular after its initial release) that gets absolutely a ton of praise? 

Now, I'm not saying these games are bad or anything of the sort, but are there any games that come to mind? For me it would be Final Fantasy 9. It's not a bad game at all, in fact it's a great game, but I do feel it has become overrated by the FF community over time; but as first asked, what do you feel is a underrated game that over time became overrated?

The first game that came to mind was Xenoblade: Chronicles. I've never played it, but I'm sure it really deserves a ton of praise. Even still, best JRPG of the generation? Best JRPG of all time?

If you havent played it, how would you know?

I only played bits. The best RPG ever in my opinion is Xenogears, so i could definitly see it. I liked the little i played, but the graphics were very dated and there were no mech, so i doubt it would be better than Xenogears, but i admit the possibility.

It needs an HD remake.

I am not too sure.. Sonic Heroes maybe? It used to get ignored  up until a few years ago when it started to get a lot of attention along with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Unleashed!

Yeah I hear that a lot too, yet to play it. I'm sure it's a great and I'll be getting it eventually but I somehow doubt it is the best JRPG of the generation, or all time. But you never know. Its definitely a bit overrated x.x

If only Majora's Mask had ever been underrated.

I could sort of see Xenoblade, but I don't think it's exactly "popular opinion" that it's the best (J)RPG of all time. Most people would probably still single out Final Fantasy 6 or 7 or Chrono Trigger for that one. Best (J)RPG of the generation, however, is a title it certainly deserves to be in the running for.

I never said I did. Just said it was the first game that came to mind. I'd love to play it in HD, even though I know everything that happens already.

Well but underrated I also meant overlooked (something Majora's Mask was at the time, 3mill vs. OoT's 7mil), I should partially edit my title I guess XD so MM could fit in the list

Minecraft, I suppose? I think it's a great game and all but it might be praised a little too much.
