Naw, Nintendo has allowed it for four games now so that means it's fair game!

Nope. Cheating. Real players get hurt by a spinyshell (hardcore name) and race for the first place once again.

Everyone who votes "Naw mawn..." simply lacks the skill to shroom dodge =P

Or they lack the shrooms. :D

Honestly, how often do you find yourself in first position with a mushroom?

Actually it was incredibley common in MKWii. That is provided your not someone who wastes their shrooms on a straight or minute short cut.

Huh. I always thought holding on to two bananas was better. I actually never tried it.

Unless you disprove what I said, which you can't btw, then yes! Your arbitrary rules are nothing against those Nintendo themselves have made! If Nintendo deemed Mushroom dodging an illegal act, it would have been long removed, just like Snaking, Wheelies, and Lakitu shortcuts.

That aren't arbitrary rules. Spinyshell was made to hurt first place. If the point of Nintendo was to dodge it then better take off from the items.

With your logic, the only item we should have is the Shock then. Thank goodness you're not in charge!

EDIT: Oh wait, Shock can be counterd with Starman/Bullet Bill. Nvm, no items at all then!

With my logic we will have more amazing MK64-MKWii and less MK7.

Seems fair enough to me. If you hoard a mushroom for the blue shell, you won't have any butt-armour for green or red shells. I'd rather have the more reliable protection from the more common threat.

I'm more annoyed that blue shells will hit people on their way to the leader. Yet another weapon hitting people in the middle ranks.

Mushroom dodging too? First they create an item that destroys them, now you can dodge them? Slowly but surely, they're getting the balance with blue shells right. Blue shells are a very needed item, and I hope they never totally get rid of them, but having some defenses against them leaves little room to complain. Where as before there was no strategy involved, just the luck of staying in first place long enough to finish before you're blue shelled, now there's strategy, with a fairly common item in the horn that provides a great defense, and a very common item in the mushroom that provides a good defense, so you just need to find one of those and save the item. Items add another layer of strategy to the game, and are a huge part of what makes me like Mario Kart over other racing games.

That actually helps balance it further along with the blast radius, as it's not just 1st place that can get destroyed by it, but everyone!

Actually mushroom dodging (aswell as using Starman and Bullet Bill to tank the hit) was first since we've been able to do it since MKDS, but you're right about everything else! To add to this the second screen tells everyone when someone has a Blue Shell, so it's possible to avoid them by dropping out of first! Of course, most if not all of your opponents will try to do similarly, so quick thinking, high awareness, and fast reflexes are very much needed here! This also makes it so that the Blue Shell can actually aid the person who got it if they're far behind since people will be backing up to avoid being targeted by it. So while the Blue Shell may seem like nothing but herp derp on the surface, there's actually a whole lot of hidden depth to it! I used to hate it and think it was a stupid item like most everyone else, but after playing MK7 I've realized just how awesome it actually is!
