Forums - Nintendo - Gamepad is a fantastic idea and gaming controller.

The resolution is too low. The tablet is too heavy. The tablet is too big. The battery does not run long enough. It always needs to be connected even though it is not needed in the game. The tablet is no standalone system and cannot be used mobile.

But this all could be fixed with an optional, smaller standalone HD tablet that you can use to play VC games mobile. Nintendo just needs to fix the problems instead of denying their existence, then we would see much better sales of the Wii-U. The lack of 3rd party games can also be fixed easily, Nintendo has enough money to set incentives or invest in important developers.

The triggers are terribad (but theyre not as terrible as the Dual Shok 3s ones were at least), but apart from that its a very good controller with some cool features..

I take it you have not used the gamepad? It 100% adds to every Nintendo game I have played. It is not ideal for the majority of games but well worth it for Nintedno games

What great new features does it add to Donkey Kong TP?

It allowed you to play it while having a dump?

That's not tropical freeze though... or 60fps for that matter :p

The only bad thing about is the crappy battery life, otherwise it allows for very versatile gameplay

Donkey Country Returns Definitive version (3DS) does do 60 fps.

Youtube only does 30 refresh rate for 2D.

Watch 3D YouTube for 60 fps per video image.

3DS version is 30fps. At least the EU Physical release that I have is...

I don't need Youtube, I can see the difference between 30fps and 60fps.

If it was, people would be buying Wii U ;)

All of these posts regarding the hate for the gamepad really irk me.

Its a very good controller that matches any other configuration, very comfortable, and provides an excellent feature with off-tv play. In fact, most people I know or read about here and GAF don't even use the TV anymore unless required (rare). Its simply a better way to play.

Only problem the gamepad ever really caused was its costs in materials to the overall console. But even that is a bad argument. Had WiiU not contained a gamepad and instead had beefier specs, it would still have cost about the same.

Meaning, we'd still have a $300 console that is being sold at a loss with no 3rd party support or sales. It still wouldn't appeal to the MSony crowd that only see Nintendo as a kid company and it wouldn't be in the price range or feature/game aspect to hit the casual group again like Wii.

Its sad so many people ignored the Wii U and its superior controller options. Its  great system with many great games. I sincerely hope the next Nintendo console is some sort of portable/home hybrid where the portable controller option is a touch screen off-tv capable device. Its just a better option.

The only people I've personally known that hated on the Game Pad are people who don't have one....Hater's will hate.

As for everyone I know that has a Wii U, no negative comments other than maybe battery life and for me, I'd like to have had analog triggers intead of digital.  I think it's a great controller overall with a excellent screen and love two player games and not having my TV screen divided into two!

Stop hating and start playing.

That I can play pretty much anywhere in my house, even while pooping.
