These days, translation is the biggest part of localizing, if they actually embraced digital. With digital there would be no need to make deals with retailers and manufacture physical copies, it would go straight to the PS store where people could buy it if they wanted.

I won't deny that the translation is the biggest part but saying by embracing digital releases they'll fix their problems is unreasonable. Retailers only get a 3% cut from a newly purchased game, and if a publisher didn't want to manufacture physical copies then they wouldn't.

Also digital retailers like Steam have awful page layouts even though they're one of the better ones, how will the PS Store be any better.

edit: also games can go to about 50GBs these days, imagine downloading something that size, especially in Canada.....

If only stuff like this came to NA... I would consider getting a ps4 before the holiday season then

Where have you been? This is almost certainly coming to the US. The last Compile Heart to not come over was Mist of Chaos which was a PS3 launch title.

Sorry, made it more clear! My mistake! I know it came out for the ps3, I was trying to say that if it came out for the ps4 at the sametime, then I would get it before the holiday season

I see. I imagine that the niche Western publishers will want to be all over this. It may the first traditional JRPG on the system and they could advertise it as such.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Although I'm not a big Compile Heart fan I take this as a good sign that hopefully the tiny JRPG developers that I do actually like (Gust being my most cared about example of this) will try development on the PS4 sooner rather than later.

I'm sure Gust will develop for the PS4 soon considering they have Tecmo Koei supporting them now :)

Hmmm idk, may need to see more to decide if I would like the game or not. However, I'm happy the PS4 is already getting JRPG's, its what I bought the system for :3

Hmmm I was hoping with the current gen being even easier to port/develop games for multiple platforms it would mean Steam/PS4./One versions would be standard for the new generation of JRPG’s, oh well hope PS4 owners enjoy this anyway.

I'm not sure Steam is popular in Japan, and Xbox One isn't even out yet.

Digital downloads are so common now for many areas that making a game digital-only is very feasible. The games that do bad on Steam are generally Indies that are lost among the countless other garbage indies, I doubt some of those great JRPGs would go completely unnoticed on the PS Store. Even if you don't sell as much from having your game digital-only in the west, you will still make a decent profit from the digital sales.

And the reason retailers are a problem is because their shelf space is limited. They won't sell niche Japanese titles when they could be displaying the more mainstream titles instead. Publishers that go digital don't have to worry about negotiating for shelf space.
