This thread is just asking what are the most successful and popular franchises throughout Japan!

Now remember its not exactly about sales even though its a major part of it. Ex: Brain Age+Wii Sports/Fit. Both sold much more than everything else but by no means most popular(and successful) franchises in Japan!

That said what are your opinions on the top 10 (top 5 if its too much for you) most popular and successful franchises?

Rank them in order now

Here's Some Help if you need it :p

⇒Dragon Quest   ⇒Puzzles and Dragons    ⇒Final Fantasy      ⇒Super Smash Bros    ⇒Metal Gear

⇒Pokemon          ⇒Monster Hunter             ⇒Super Mario (2D) ⇒Super Mario (3D)    ⇒Zelda

⇒Mario Kart       ⇒Resident Evil                  ⇒Tomodacho          ⇒Gran Turismo          ⇒Animal Crossing

BONUS QUESTION: Can Yokai Watch be as Successful+Popular as the top 10 in Japan? (Long Term, not like Brain Age/etc)

7. Mario Kart
8. Super Mario (3D)
9. Resident Evil

Surprised people are saying Metal Gear Solid. Did Gran Tusimo and Tekken fall that badly?

My own top ten would be something like this:

1. Pokemon
2. Dragon Quest
3. Monster Hunter
4. Super Mario Series
5. Animal Crossing
6. Final Fantasy
7. Mario Kart Series
8. Tomodacho
9. Gran Tusimo
10. Resident Evil (Don't know how well 6 did)

The first 7 seemed to be easily to pick.  (The last three not so much)
