I think that the Japanese devs saw that the Vita was a more attractive product than the 3DS for the game they wanted to sell.  Most of those developers also released their succesful games on the PSP and that worked for them and then they would naturaly go migrate to the Vita. I don't think SCEJ has done that much to be honest, Miku 2 came after Miku 1. Sword Art came after the PSP Sword Art, where the devs were probably happy with that and followed up with the Vita.

They put out adverts for the system (i.e. the hunting adverts; the Final Fantasy X HD crying advert).

They advertised the price cut and the remodel (there was loads of stuff going around at the time of the price cut; and there was that penguin ad during the price cut).

They hold events for the system, i.e. the hunting game tournament that had Soul Sacrifice/PSO2/Toukiden/Raganrok Odyssey/Dragon's Crown.

They developed a speight of original titles for it (i.e. Soul Sacrifice/Freedom Wars/Oreshika).

They've clearly courted third party devs to port games across of their own accord rather than having to do it themselves (i.e. any of Tecmo's titles; loads of stuff from Namco etc.)

They gave it a big stage presence at TGS and announced multiple relevant titles for it (i.e. Phantasy Star Nova; Oreshika)

Regardless of your views of the reasons for third party support, I think it's categorically wrong to say that SCEJ haven't done anything for the system.  And even more wrong to say that what they're doing is on par with SCEA and SCEE.  It's much, much more.  SCEA have barely even announced that the slim is releasing, let alone advertised it.  They've just released 3 games for Vita and all 3 of them were ports.

Still haven't seen a single one in real life in Germany and when Amazon gets stock we still get this:

http://www.amazon.de/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=sv_vg_0

I have no idea why Sony apparently has Germany so low on their priority list :D

Does seem strange.  If PS4 is selling sub-150k week on week there really shouldn't be supply issues anywhere.

Yeah, it's weird. But that's why I always think that people really shouldn't discount Europe when they're saying things like the PS4 will below 100k soon, I have no clue where Sony is sending or keeping their consoles, but it sure as hell isn't easy to come by a PS4 in some parts of Europe, especially Germany.

I'm sure Sony is again holding some stock back for Watch Dogs, but even for Infamous it wasn't that much, so that can't be it. Maybe Vgchartz is seriously undertracking the PS4 in Germany. :D

Japan really is keeping the Vita alive, if SCEE and SCEA showed the same kind of dedication that SCEJ has then the system could have been a solid seller. Maybe not 3DS levels but better than this. Ah well. WiiU... well I expect sales to drop even further with people waiting for the Mario Kart bundle.

What dedication? The only thing they have to offer is one game a year and some marketing. The rest is done by third parties, no one will buy a Vita for most of those games.

You dont know what you're talking about, Sony Japan offers as much 1st  game as nintendo on WiiU

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Don't make stuff up, all I said was that it does not follwo logically that because a certain situation was true one month that it will be next month. If it was possibly to logically infer sales numbers based on historic trends, we wouldn't need trackers like this and NPD since the numbers could be logically inferred anyway.

That doesn't mean that sales trends and historical data doesn't mean anything, all it means is that these tools are indicators of what will happen, not proof. And no, a sudden shift in market preferences is not impossible and it is in no way obvious and common sense that relative sales numbers wouldn't fluctuate from motnh to month.

ttoally disagre, consumer sentiment does not change unless there is a market force at play to change it, the x1 actually went BACK UP to 499, anyone can see it is assinine to think x1 will outsell ps4 after going back up 50 bucks. You are saying all these economical experts, trending, statistical analysis is for Naught? PS always outsells xbox WW, this gen is no different......nothing except something drastic will change that so no it is no logical to rthink out of nowhere the market will change.

Disagree all you want, it's still wrong. Consumer sentiment can change very quickly for no predictable reason and it happens all the time. And again, your comparison to market analysis being for naught is a strawman. Sales trends, previous data etc. are all just indicators people use to make their best guess. With the gap between the two platforms in question being what it is it would be assenine to think that just because one has sold better than the other, it will continue to do so forever. It is especially assenine to claim that logical thinking will necessarily lead to that conclusion, which is what you said.

I expect wii U to sell very bad until may 30th.
Everybody will wait for MK8 bundle.

And with statistics you make models to predict an outcome, you do not logically prove what an outcome will be. Do you even understand what you are talking about?

Yeap... and for now it proved right in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar.

Ohhhhh that's how real world economy works too.

Again, you make no sense, what is this supposed to mean? I don't think you understand what I am saying at all.

Really? No i mean really, no sarcasm. WiiU barely gets games but vita has wat thats first party? I can think of about 8-10 games off the top of my head? Unless your counting remakes/ports as well!

Edit: saw a list... I cant tell wat lol!

Why would you wait for the MK8 Bundle? The other bundles are much cheaper and better value.

No big surprises here. Wii U more or less flat yoy, 3DS heavily down, PS4 holding quite well and the One is doing pretty good too. Vita riding on Japan, we'll see how it performs over the summer. 7th gen edging closer to extinction every month, by the time 2015 starts, there won't be much left between the PS3 and 360 but I'm guessing there are still folks who believe the PS3 can catch the Wii.

Much of that depends on secondary and tertiary markets. I think it will be close when all is done in coming years (PS3 and Wii within 2 million of each other).
