Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 looks to be able to

Mario Kart 8 was running at 1080p with 60fps, Does any of this really matter?

We've known for some time now that Mario Kart 8 was running at 1080p with 60fps, but we were told the resolution was downgraded when the screen was split. In actuality, the game maintains 1080p and 60fps during two player sessions, while in 3 and 4 player sessions it maintains 1080p, but only runs at 30fps. That still doesn't take away from how impressive the game has looked visually up to this point. Nintendo always seems to get the very best out of their hardware without sacrificing much visually. The Wii U continues to churn out 1080p, 60fps experiences while other consoles struggle - either in hitting the true 60fps mark or nailing 1080p. It may be a small package with less power, but the Wii U is slowly becoming the little engine that could. Mario Kart 8 looks to be able to stand up to and next to any other offering on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Does any of this really matter? No, but the Wii U continues to do more than most seem to willing to give it credit as being capable of doing.

This... gives me peace of mind :/

I just hope it shows similar results for X.

They've done a good job. If balloon battle could be played without time limit, plus Birdo, this might very well be the racing game of the generation.

Yep.

We need to wait for confirmation about this game running native 1080/60FPS, we have heard many rumors about 720p/60FPS before and this 1080/60FPS said by eurogamer is not really a confirmation by their analysis. The one who wrote this article said in regular way instead of stating and confirming that its running natively 1080/60FPS.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is 1080p/60FPS and Wind Waker HD is 1080p/30fps. Not that resolution matters that much for these types of games though.

I still don't know why they haven't got rid of the damn time limit! >.>

Am I the only one who wishes they sacrificed resolution instead of frame rate when playing with 3-4 players? I'd much rather 720p-60fps then 1080p 30fps.

lol Nintendo is delivering on next-gen promises more than Sony and Microsoft are. xD

Its very ironic, after we were all force fed that Wii U is not next-gen.
