I think people are just happy with their purchase and want to show off (not a bad thing) while also trying to meet users who have the same console as they do so they can add each other and whatnot. I don't see a problem with those threads, If they are not your thing they are easily avoidable, you can just look at the title and not click it ^^

Vita has some cool games, just not enough for me. :)

Is it ok to make threads advertising any purchase? So long as it's in the right section/game related? Like " I just bought my first box of tampons and the latest Mario Kart cuz I just had my period and I love Mario..P.S. Boys can get periods right? P.P.S. Not that I really care, because it's not really hard to ignore threads, but conventional wisdom would suggest posting such news in...one of the Nation threads.  At least, that's what first sprang to my mind.
