Man, the period after E3 is dull as fuck

Yeah, we're basically running on fumes, trying to keep each other hyped for Gamescom, lol.  And after that, it'll be TGS. *chuckle*  Self-perpetuating cycle.

I haven't really followed Gamescom before, so I don't know how good it is compared to E3 (obviously not as good) but even that is two months away.  I mean I have a ton of games to catch up on so the fact that nothing is being released doesn't bother me, but there is just so little to talk about.

That's actually incorrect, since E3 changed their policy to be closed to the public (news/media only), Gamescom has actually exploded in popularity, and companies have started shifting towards there for announcements (staggering, of course) as there are more actual consumers there, than at E3.  E3's gotten more popular in recent years, but that change in 2006 really hit them pretty hard.  Back in 2005 they had ~70,000 attendees, last year they had 48,200.

Conversely, Gamescom had ~275,000 attendees in 2012, and over 340,000 in 2013.

That's cool, but I would assume there will still be less announcements than E3.  Although even if there is only half as many, there would still be a lot to talk about.  Hopefully

its more about online viewers now. and E3 is still considered "the big" show. gamescom is good, and its actually a show filled with cool announcements. however sony seems to be the most one who cares about it.

Possibly, but with Sony's shift towards being gamer centric, they could very well just tell E3 to go fuck themselves, and bring their A-game to Gamescom and TGS.  E3 is really too far from the heavy retail months to be anything more than an appetizer at this point.  Show too much at E3, and you've exhausted your wad before the critical holiday season.

Which makes me think we should really be looking forward to Gamescom, and expecting little out of E3 going forward :)

I think we will see at least one of them there.

I hope so. I'm not sure which of them i'd rather see though lol. I have a lot more faith in MM than GG to produce something amazing, but GG really have me intrigued with their new IP. They've worked on nothing but Killzone for the last decade, so it will be interesting to see how different/similar it is.

Yoshida said in an interview at E3 that Sony will have announcements during every big event, so there definitely will be something new for Gamescom, plus traditional slate of smaller and indie titles.
Expecting GG new IP, as Mm is working on a Morpheus title. On the other hand I think Gamescom with 300k atendees is the perfect spot to showcase Morpheus to a wide audience, so maybe Mm new IP and playable?

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!
