So the only explanation you/writers in your opinion have is the locker? That was the event changing moment, disregarding everything that happened previously, or the Ted - Robin meet up on the beach which supposedly should have put their relationship chance to rest?

And you don't have a problem that a counter weight to a whole season is one episode and.Barney and Robin getting drunk? Don't you feel there is a huge balance problem here?

If the Robin/Barney relationship was so momentary without substance as you say, why devote so much time to it? Why was Robin getting back to Barney all the time, expressing her love, when Ted was just around the corner, always the same, always in love?

Yeah with Barney it seems we'll have to disagree. You see it as realistic, I see it as lack of vision and inconsistent, out of character writing, or lack of 1 season like I said in the first post. Writers seemed to try and convince us that Barney has changed. Reasons I've brought up, Banana brought up, all point to that. For us it looks like they wanted desperately convince us Barney wants to settle down, it wasn't just Robin, he was engaged to Karma. Why all the romantic hassle if it wasn't really what he wanted? You only point to the laser tag, I can point to broken engagement, "The Robin" from The Playbook, the ice skating.

And another thing. Why did Robin want to get married (and Barney with her) when she still wanted to be a Worldwide news presenter? Didn't they talk about it before? How did they think it would work out?

I don't have a problem with them divorcing per se at all. Couples divorce all the time. My problem is the lack of balance that I was talking about before. Getting married - full season -> getting divorced one episode.

And you never adressed my point why Ted and Robin was a no go all the time before. Was it the locker again?

That's not to mention the way they handled Tracy's character, which I will adress later.

First of all. They dated at some point, so he wasn't a no go all the time. That would make Ted a but creepy and a stalker... But it was a no go most of the time, because Robin didn't know what she wanted. She found Ted telling her "I love you" the day they met weird. She also took him for granted. Robin went through some growing that most of us do as well. She liked playing games with Barney, hence her excitement about their relationship. But then she relaized that that's not enough. Before the wedding, she wanted out. because she realized what matters most in life. And that for her, at that point was a man who would turn the world upside own just to make her happy. Barney would never do that. Hence him getting tired of following her around. But Ted would probably be ok with it, because that's the kind of person he was. The locker was a wake  up call. Do I wanna be with a guy who plays lazer tag while I'm devasted about an important thing or a guy who I'm not even dating and would do anything to be with me?

"And another thing. Why did Robin want to get married (and Barney with her) when she still wanted to be a Worldwide news presenter? Didn't they talk about it before? How did they think it would work out?"

Do young people not make stupid decisions and think that jsut because they have "love", they can conquer anything?

"If the Robin/Barney relationship was so momentary without substance as you say, why devote so much time to it? Why was Robin getting back to Barney all the time, expressing her love, when Ted was just around the corner, always the same, always in love?"

Could be for many reasons. I was not part of the writing team, so I can't claim that I know what they were thinking. But since they wrote it, I think it made sense to them. Now whether people liked it, is another story. As for my opinion it could be:
a) Because they were making a huge deal how amazing a relationship can be on the outside and have no substance. They can't show that in an episode or two. The "honeymoon period" that a couple experiences can last 2-3 years. So of course they're gonna make it seem as if it's the best thing ever, while the best marriage was actually the simple, not flashy one, between Marsall and Lilly. Sure they had their problems, but they were both marriage material. Barney wasn't.
b) More likely: Because it shows all the hearbreak Ted had to go through. Robin and Barney being together was like an open wound for Ted, who, instead of giving up on heras a friend and a person in his life in general, always tried to make her happy. For me, Ted finding the locker and rejecting Robin was the ultimate testament of his love for her. If you truly love someone, you can't stop loving them even if they are with someone else and if you manage to stay friends with them after all this, it shows that friendship means a lot to you. Robin obviously wasn't a close enough friend, hence her decision to stay away from them. She was never an important part of the gang as the rest.

dont know why people keep saying the story centered around ted and robin. It centered around Ted, Robin, Barney, Lily, Marshall, Ted and Robin, Ted and Barney, Ted and Lily, Tedand Marshall, Robin and Barney, Robin and Lilly, Robin and Marshall, Barney and Lily, Barney and Marshall, Ted and Victoria, Ted and doctor in house, ted and th sexy pumpkin, ted and the plethora of other girls.... Robin an Enrique Iglesias.  However after all that I knewthe writers would fuck it all up and somehow make robin and ted end up together. My mom kept saying stuff like "No, robin and barney are getting married." when i asked if they wrote robin in as the mother yet. Needless to say i didnt pay attention after Ted and victoria were running off ogether.... whenever that was

Seems we see it entirely different. I'm out soon, maybe I'll adress the rest later, but there is not much left to adress.

One big mistake on your part is that you think Ted would follow her, unlike Barney. Well remember when they dated? Remember the reason why they broke up? "Paris,.Tokyo, Argentina...?" Yeah Ted didn't want to follow her either.

To stay in the convention of the series I'll just say: Lawyered cheers!

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

It was terrible and the reviews for it all said it was bad as well.

I didn't read your post so didn't see any spoilers, but you ruined it for me because I believe everything people say.

I thought it was stupid too, they never should have killed off the mother.

No spoilers, it was bad bad bad and they just threw away almost the entire seasons/series worth of writing in one episode.

What do you mean, this is the only ending I'm accepting and its great ^ (fan made)

They wrote themselves into a rut by filming that 2nd to last scene with the kids telling him to go for aunt robin. It was filmed all the way back in Season 2 before all the excellent character progression and Ted FINALLY GETTING OVER HER!

Meh, never really watched it, don't care much about sitcoms that use laugh tracks. "Raising Hope" had a pretty good series finale that show should have been on at least a couple more season. Oh well at least they didn't have to jump the shark.
