So then your point is Nintendo do not need a living room console, meaning the Wii U is redundant?

Since the libraries are not identical, no, it isn't redundant.

But you said "I'm saying the handheld experience is more than adequate for delivering the Nintendo experience audiences desire."

Considering the potential difference between handheld and console, then surely Nintendo has failed in the living room if the portable experience is adequate and all the difference between handheld and console is just different libraries.

It's more that Nintendo's audience don't place as much importance on big-screen HD experiences.

Which is clearly Nintendo failing to utilise the advantage/potential of big-screen HD experiences.

in previous generations, no. when comparing 3DS and Wii U, yes the experiences are very similar. In terms of hardware and software both devices share many silmilarities which i believe is one factor in Wii U's  poor sales.

In terms of hardware. Lol. Please, do explain.

Gladly, in previous generations there were huge gaps in power when it came to Nintendo handhelds and consoles. Gameboy could only display 4 shades of gray while SNES had 32,000 colors and minimal 3D graphics, GBC/GBA were solely 2D while N64/GC primarily featured 3D games. Last gen DS could render 3D worlds but was still primarily 2D and utilized touch/dual screen controls while Wii once again was fully capable of 3D and utilized motion controls.

That brings us to 3DS/Wii U which are much closer in terms of visuals plus both have dual screens, motion controls, touch screen. Basically the only major difference is stereoscopic 3D vs HD.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight. So basically you think because both are 3D the difference is what? Negligible? Driver was 3D. So is Crysis 3. Saying they are both 3D so the hardware isn't that different is just barmy.  Next time you want to talk hardware, try comparing Gflops or something measurable rather than wasting your time coming up with nonsensical comments.

Not necesssarily, no. You can't force an audience to change their preferences.

Fuck gflops and other bullshit 99% of people dont care about. im talking about in terms of visuals, 3DS and Wii U are much closer than previous generations. Compare games like Super Mario 3D Land or Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D to Super Mario 3D World or Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the average person wont see any huge difference in visuals.

Post screenshots then and show how they are similar. And fucking lol at you ranting about actual power. Considering how GFlops is the best way to compare power, people do actually care, but clearly it means you have to admit that the WiiU is pitifully weak compared to the PS4 and Xbox One. But anyway, go ahead, please show me how 3DS and WiiU screenshots compare.

Then if the preference of Nintendo fans is to go for the handheld, and they don't see a need in HD graphics/a home console, then doesn't that mean Nintendo is now out of the home console business and the WiiU was doomed from inception?

I thought this thread would have died off by now. I suppose I owe a thanks to ps4tw for keeping it alive.
