We, nope.

wiiU slightly overtracked, giving the benefit of the doubt her as I doubt there is much in the channel due to lack of demand.

3DS is easily 1.5m overtracked. No idea how you get to slightly overtracked when sold through is 1m more than shipped.

Fixed my post. See above.

Awful results, sad to see Nintendo burning like this.

Also 270 million invested in R & D this quarter? New console is getting some major focus behind closed doors. Very interested to see what they come up with honestly. Nintendo need something huge following the abysmal performance of the Wii U.

30%? Are you sure? I just googled and I think they had shipped 3.45 at the of the last fiscal year. So they shipped 2.72 this year, while their target was 2.8 according to the OP, that's more like 3%.

They projected 9 million and only shipped 2.72 http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/wii-u-shipments-miss-targets-at-3-45m-fy14-forecasts-of-9m/

Oh, I see. I made a mistake, I thought you meant that they missed their target by 30% but you they only sold 30% of their original target, my bad.

Nintendo is projecting Wii U to sell 7 times less than Wii in the same period! Does anyone still think it will sell more than GC lifetime?

My 8th gen collection

Looks like they are phasing Wii U out this year then, they cant keep it going on such small numbers forecast. New Home Console for xmas 2015 i bet.

So quarterly shipments:

Wii 0.16m
WiiU 0.31m
3DS 0.63m

Abysmal.

Wow....that is scary bad. Nintendo needs to seriously evaluate their entire business strategy.

Results are very poor indeed; however, for once, like I mentioned previously, Nintendo is being extremely conservative with their hardware and software sales at the exception of 3DS HW for FY15.

Furthermore, a one-off event of 270 million for R&D investments for Q4 does not paint a pretty picture either.

It's going to be a very interesting investor's meeting tomorrow.

Here's a further argument on VGC vs shipped...

1) some retailers have stopped stocking it at all.
2) all other retailers don't carry much stock at all. Only a few units per store.
3) you have to remember that VGC numbers are up to April 26, 2014 while the Nintendo shipped figures are through March 31, 2014.... almost a month difference.

So, I think WiiU is spot on while 3DS is overtracked... but not massively.

According to the main page there were more sales that quarter than shipments so there were too many consoles left on stores in Q3
