Not all cars travel at 200mph and even the ones which do are not doing it for more than 10% of the race.

bullets travel faster than cars yet shooters are fine at 30fps. Spiderman can travel faster than cars, yet thats ok at 30fps, or even lower.

Ofcourse 60 is better than 30 and you should always go for the higher one when there is an option available (I know you wont though), but if 60 isnt available, you shouldnt write off a game.

Anyway, turn 10 worked on forza horizon which was 30fps.

Even at 124mph you're missing out on almost 2 metres of track per second. So yes, what selnor said there may have been an extreme case scenario, but the point stands. Frame rate in a racer is massively important for your ability properly take a corner, and consistently hit the apex.

But if that 2m of track has half the pixels, you are still losing out just as much.

What's going on with this res-vs-fps debate? I played games like these and didn't crush into obstacles because of the low resolution...

I didnt crash into obstacles at 30fps either.

Oh, I did crash, but not because of the bad resolution but the bad framerate and my lack of driving skills back then

What kind of nonsense is that??? Does the track get shorter if it has less pixels in it? Or are you perhaps expecting to start breaking so far away from a turn that it is literally a couple kilometres into the distance? lol

You never seemed to have a problem with the 30 fps in Forza Horizon and looking at your old profile what do I see there? Favourite games: F1 2011, Score 9/10... weird, that game also has a locked framerate of 30.

An F1 game at 30fps??? Wow that's bad. Are they still doing that in the new ones? Cus that's kinda flat out unacceptable

The 2014 version is going to have 60fps on PS4 (and X1 as well I suppose) but 360/PS3 have been 30fps including this year and I've seen nobody complain about that.

Yeah, it is sad that resolution and fps have taken over forum talk this gen - seems the games themselves aren't important anymore.

That's insane lol. If there's one form of motor racing where 60fps would be more important than anywhere else it's F1. I still play some old ones from like 8 years ago in my dad's simulator now and again. If that shit ran at 30fps I wouldn't even bother getting in xD

Im saying that in the same length of track you would have less pixels to manoeuvre in.

Seriously, a couple years ago nobody would even ask questions like "what framerate is it?" and now those things are suddenly the most important things in gaming ever. "If the framerate is too low, I can't react fast enough","If the resolution is too low I can't see far enough"... oh come on people. I kinda wish Sony, I think they're mainly to blame for this, would've never started using this whole resolution/framerate bullcrap as a huge marketing point.

Well let's hope that as the generation progresses those things take a backseat. :D

Hunh? Are people for real here?

Not every game is travelling at 200 MPH + and requires pinpoint accuracy of braking zones and acceleration zones. It is absoluely imperitive tthat a racing game gives the player the best reaction times possible along with the best feedback possible. A bit better resolution is not any consolation for losing double the amount of controller input time and feedback in a racer at 200 mph.ot even close. Why do you think Turn 10 said they will never release a racing game less than 60fps solid.

I love F1. And F1 2011 was the only F1 game available. Forza 5 has the Lotus F1 car from 2013 in it. At 60 Fps it craps all over Codemasters F1 games 30 FPS. Also Horizon I complained about the 30 fps. I didnt finish it. Cleary Turn 10 didnt make Horizon. Great potential, but I hope to god Horizon 2 is 60 fps. In this new gen 30 FPS racers arent acceptable. And I wont buy Horizon 2 if its 30 FPS.
