Lots of people cared about this kind of stuff last gen, especially the first few years. Why not this one as well?  What did you expect to change?

I think competition is good for gamers, and any dominating Company will 'force' the other to react and do something more. Mark my words, this generation will be fantastic, both PS4 and Xbone will deliver a great game experience. Don't be so obsessed by selling numbers. PS4 will be the most popular machine, ok, it will sell more, a lot more in the Global, but it's good to see the reaction of MS, the price cut in UK, Bundles with free Titanfall, and other good deals will come, and I hope more effort in delivering fresh AAA titles and new IPs.

Let's enjoy the game experience.

Overall they're basing this thought pretty much on the naive idea that sales for both systems are going to be the same in the coming months. Could the PS4 double the X1s overall sales? Sure it's possible, but it'll take a while.


Using simple math tells you this is definitely not going to happen. X1 sold 310k with massive price cuts+bundles and Titanfall big release (US anyway). Apr doesn't have a big game and to top itoff 1 less week than previous month.

My guesses are PS4= 250k-300k  and  X1= 160k-220k

Even that might be too high considering how BenV has repeatedly stated that April sales are incredibly low. It might end up something like ~200k PS4 and ~150k X1 or something. NPD is definitely going to be interesting but probably also very disappointing.

I believe this trend will remain remarkably consistent for the entire gen. Even with Titanfall, the X1 can't step up to the pace of the PS4. And MS has very little to reverse the trend. Halo? Gears? Since these franchises are in new hands, it is doubtful they can attain same prestige of their predecessors. There's some good IPs in MS's portfolio, but very few true system sellers.

So assuming X1 + PS4 will equal 360 + PS3, since they represent the core gamer market(plus the semi-casual gamers that follow what's popular), that puts PS4's lifetime sales over 110 million and the X1 right around 50 million. Not bad for the X1. It'll get 3rd party support, but not as much as the PS4 in the years to come.



I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Meh I do believe, it will be easier for Sony to get deals with 3rd party developers and Sony really needs the cash. They are in a terrible financial state (looking better).

YEah the price cuts and budles with their flag ship is definitly good for the gamers. But for the company it's really terrible. They are here to make profit, not to give away stuff. But competitition is definitly good for a healthy market.

They didn't used VGC numbers... VGC had Xbone wrong at 4.4m right now... they estimated 4.4m after April.
