The answer isn't even debatable. Of course, yes.

Kirby 3D will trump Yoshi's New Island. Kirby and Yoshi games sell roughly similar numbers, but Triple Deluxe's MUCH better reviews, not to mention more appealing visuals, ought to increase sales. And the only reason Yoshi's Island DS sold as well as it did was better reviews, about 10 points better than Kirby's DS platformers. Now, it's the other way around.

The only major problem Kirby will have is competition from Mario Golf and Kart in the short term, which may reduce early sales.

He is not 50 times cuter than Yoshi in general.

He is just 50+times more cuter than the visual accident that is "New" Yoshi and his New Island.

The thing is, that won't happen. The reviews have come to save the day.

The demographic Yoshi's New Island was targeting was clearly people who played Yoshi's Island due to it's obvious ties to that game. The reviews even mentioned the heavy-handed use of the "nostalgia factor." And it failed to bring in that demographic due to it's reviews. (And overall lack of interest thanks to how unappealing it looks.)
