See third parties, this is how you offer DLC. You create a full game and add completely new content that is fully optional and relatively cheap.

You don't create the game and then strip stuff out to make DLC.

Hopefully Nintendo continues this as they have done similar on WiiU with Pikmin3, NSLU, and hopefully future WiiU titles yet to come.

Hey who is that? I remember my teacher had a picture of this guy in the class in high school

that exact photo. I always wondered how it was allowed in school and who it was.

Gross. This is really disappointing, especially from Nintendo. Why not just pack that content into the game? Or, if it's too much for one game, create a sequel?

That's not how it works. A game is a project as any other so its costs (including each work hour for the entire dev team, use of PCs and other equipments, marketing and distribution) must be lower than the full revenue from the game's sales. The time used to develop a DLC is costly. If it was to be included in the game, maybe they simply wouldn't be able to do it without exceding costs. So DLC actually is a way for the user to pay more to get more content. It doesn't matter if they developed it before the release, it was made because they knew its costs would be separated, not included in the main project costs.

But your comment presupposes that DLC needs to be developed at all. Why not ignore DLC development altogether and focus on creating a complete product for the consumer?

that's a total of 108 dlc courses, for under $20. that is not bad at all, I'm sure EA and tigerwoods never gave you that in DLC

I'm not sure about this and I didn't expect it. It sounds like a right and wrong step towards a more accepted policy. Doing what others do isn't always the best thing, there are more important points Nintendo should think about like their online services in general but let's hope they will not do it wrong.

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

That's my point. If you add the costs of the game plus the costs of the DLC (the complete product), maybe it won't be profitable. Without DLC, they wiuld just cut it down.

Nintendo finally understands how to make money from online capabilities.
Expect more awesomeness!

I will never buy any game with micro trasactions or Day 1 DLC. I skipped Bravely Default and I will skip any game that comes with incomplete content, even if it is the new Mario or Zelda.

They DID strip it out, since it will be ready at release. What is to stop them from including it with the game BUT money and greed? This is no different from everyone else.

The game is what $30? Add the season pass which costs $15. Add them together and its at $45, thats right $5 more than the average 3DS game and it is including optional new courses and characters. That sounds pretty reasonable to me.
