Forums - Sony - Why do I feel the urge to buy a PS4?

*Sound Of Rain said:

I've never had the urge to buy a PS system before. I've owned all 3 previous consoles but that was because of family members and gifts. I've enjoyed all of them but have never bought one myself...now I feel the need to buy a PS4. Yet, none of the games interest me besides for InFamous SS.

I think I mainly want to play some PS classics but my PS3 broke. Does PS4 have PS classics yet?

Anyway, I always planned to buy a Wii U first (got it earlier this year) and then depending on E3 get a PS4 or XBO during this Holiday. Now, despite the XBO having Kinect (which I like) and better exclusives for my tastes so far, I want a PS4.

Thoughts?

Because you believe you deserve greatness?

But Greatness...awaits. Urge to do something =/= achieving greatness.

"I mean, if you got a cat for one day, man - I mean, if you, say, say, maybe you want a cat for 365 days, right - You ain't got him for 365 days, you got him for one day, man. Well I tell you that one day, man, better be your life. Because, you know, you can say, oh man, you can cry about the other 364, man, but you're gonna lose that one day, man, and that's all you've got. You gotta call that love, man. That's what it is, man. If you got it today you don't want it tomorrow, man, 'cause you don't need it, 'cause as a matter of fact, as we discovered on the train, tomorrow never happens, man. It's all the same fucking day, man."

The force is strong. The force is great. Greatness awaits.

On a serious note, PS4 does not have classics yet. And to be honest, maybe it's my bias, but I'd trust PS4 over XOne when it comes to better first party support. So, it's infamous only for now, then you should become interested in plenty other games later.

If you have a tonne of disposable income, why not?

I have both the X1 and the PS4. The X1 has better games right now (outside of indies), but frankly neither one is worth buying right now if money is tight.

I wouldn't really considering buying any next gen system yet. Neither the PS4 or X1 have libraries that can really justify the purchase. I would say the WiiU can justify it if you like Nintendo's game, but don't be surprised to find it has the "worst" library by the end of the gen. The Nintendo exclusives haven't quite been meeting the standards of their Wii predecessor, and it lacks the 3rd party support to make up for it.

Basically, buy a PS1 :P

No doubt, the PS4 & XBO will have the more varied library. As for which one is better? That will depend on which has the best games. I don't buy too many so for me quality > Quantity. For the average consumer, the Wii U library will look worse though.

I don't want to buy a PS1 because then I'll have to buy the games and then it'll add up. I might as well get a PS4 so its future proof. This likely won't be until later though.

20 & The U.S

For PS Classics, just get a PS1 or a PSP. As a PS4 owner, I would say wait out until there are some more games out.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Because you are quite clearly a Sony centric gamer. That is why.

Better idea get a Vita.

I assumed he was on a budget. If not, a Vita is the best choice in the short-run.

Maybe because it's what most people are willing to do, so you just go with the mass without knowing why you are doing it.
But it's obviously that you wanted a 8th gen console, you were even waiting for e3, so you saw the results and decided to go with the ps4, now you just want to make that decision to turn into reality. You want just because you want as games are still irrelevante to get your taste.

I have a a Wii U, I don't just go with the masses and am tight with my money. I am waiting for E3 2014 not last E3.
