Forums - Gaming - Why is Titanfall Considered a Big Exclusive for XB1 but FFXIV not for PS4?

Titanfall is a game that people want to play (goes for both, Xbox and PlayStation fans) while Final Fantasy XIV is a game that people don't want to play (goes for both, PlayStation and Xbox fans).

Final Fantasy XIV was met with a collective "yawn" ever since its announcement as an MMORPG.

It's good to know that you alone speak for everyone.

That right there OP is why the people who consider Titanfall a big exclusive but discredit an PS4/PC games are never going to do so. They've got a single mind track and logic won't help. Honestly, it's a good indication of who's willing to put up a good discussion and who's plain and simple out on an agenda

It's probably the same crowd that thinks people only buy consoles for exclusives and think that only FPS and other shooters  can be considered system sellers

Because of artifial hype on a new FPS, marketing influencing people, just few month ago, most thought TItanfall was the GOTY, a revolution, an exclusive, the best multiplayer game of the year,... Then it released.

Then it released... and became critically acclaimed. People are still enjoying Titanfall even if it didn't live up to unrealistic expecatations.

No, then it released and turned out to be a good but average FPS and instead of being the savior it turned out the X1 sold less per week.

Because Xbox fans don't care enough to go out of their way to bash FFXIV and PS fans don't care enough to go out of their way to praise it.

I don't think the critic and the fans share your single OPINION.

86 meta tells me it's a pretty average game, especially now in the Era of a 7-10 grading scale and also considering the massive hype the media gave it

Furthermore, the fact that it completely failed to do what it was supposed probably isn't very good

Excuse me? Not only is my assertion backed up by the behavior on this very forum (PlayStation fans being more excited about the prospects of Titanfall coming to PS than the actually coming Final Fantasy XIV while Xbox fans show no desire to want FF XIV on Xbox), but more importantly, the sales data as well.

I'll agree that Titanfall is a system seller, though that's debatable given that average weekly sales actually decreased in March, but saying that no one wants to play FFXIV is absurd. Same thing for saying that everyone wants TF, if it was truly such a big deal it would have helped X1 sales not lessened them. So clearly, there's plenty of people who don't really care for it.

When was the last Socom out?

Bulletstorm was just one title back in 2011.

Painkiller? 2 games in 10 years.

You must be kidding. Even Halo comes out in 2-3 years iteration.

I shouldn't even replied to you just because of the bolded part.

Sure Titanfall will make MS splash millions because you know, it's online only and to play you have to acquire Live. Does that mean more money to MS?

2011 is 3 years ago - just like you wrote in your post. The last SOCOM was released in that time period as well. I think there were 3 Painkillers? Though I might be wrong here.

The bolded is true, whether it breaks down your world or not.

It will cost MS like hell. Why? They had to pay for exclusivity. Then, they were giving it out for free and even coupled that with a $50 discount on XO. There was also a bundle with TF and a year of Live. Moreover, I'm sure the majority of people who jumped to the XO are X360 owners and have Live either way. All this effort and PS4 still won March in USA...

How much do you really think it cost? MS saved Titanfall while Sony wanted to put it on Vita. I'm sure a big part of the deal was putting them on XBL Compute servers so EA didn't have to deal with another Sims + BF4 sh*tstorm. Also its a game without single-player which means they had to work with the minimal resources given to them.

The reason MS was able to bundle Titanfall at a price cut is because of Xbox as a whole's Tie-Ratio. They know that people will buy more games for their Xbox One and Xbox Live Gold while they have an Xbox One. Xbox Live Gold is THE most profitable asset of the Xbox division so when MS made XB1 they had to make sure it depended on XBLG to be fully enjoyable, like the 360.

I'm pretty sure you're a regular board member at MS to know the sales goal of TF. It did its job, since it got released, gamers are  still talking about it.

Damn, if 86 meta is average then Killzone SF and inFamous SS must be disappointing.

Going by certain comments, that seems to be the case.  Pretty sad but hey, nothing can be done about it

I suppose MS' intention was for sales to slow down during Titanfall's month then, huh? Does that make more sense?

Oh, I see. You are one of those people who take everything absolutely literal.

Actually, I didn't use the words "no one" and "everyone". You are one of those who see what they want to see.

"Titanfall is a game that people want to play (goes for both, Xbox and PlayStation fans) while Final Fantasy XIV is a game that people don't want to play "

Perhaps I jumped the gun a bit but that statement is clearly a generalization.
