adjective
adjective: bold; comparative adjective: bolder; superlative adjective: boldest
1.
(of a person, action, or idea) showing an ability to take risks; confident and courageous.

Personally out of the past few gens I'd really only say the Wii's design was bold. Every other innovation has had a safety net if it failed, but there was no way to salvage the Wii if motion controls didn't work out. It was a huge risk and luckily it paid of.

I'd probably have to with the Wii as well. It was a ballsy move but it evidently paid off.

On a smaller scale, I'd say Metroid: Other M.

Think about it. It went against what people knew about the series with a cinematic approach, was developed by people who had never before made a Metroid-like game, involved putting one of Nintendo's most legendary series in the hands of outsiders, and essentially attempted to simplify the controls of the modern action game into something that could have been done with an NES Gamepad and Zapper.

Say what you want about the end product, but even making it involved some courageous risk-taking.

Then the PS3 launching at $600 wins.

Wii Sports

If the Wii was the hardware that took a bold risk, Wii Sports would be the Software that made it a bold success! If Nintendo didn't make it perfectly, the wii would have not taken off at all and it probably could have sold worse than the gamecube! Every Hardware has to have an application that makes it sing and this was the wii's

The Wii. Betting everything on a game-changing new interface was ballsy as hell.
