I guess I should've clarified. I don't think there's enough of a market for such a device nowadays, in the current market environment.
The mobile market was a VERY different place 10 years ago.

Just like how the Wii U is failing because it doesn't appeal to the console market. Vita is still doing surprisingly better, despite it 'a major disadvantages. The handheld won't be a total flop, as long Sony continues strong support for it in Japan. It's pretty much dead everywhere else.
Its not selling because of the mandatory memory cards you need ot have in order to play games. Those cards are not cheap . that and teh games ar enot everyone wants to play. Atm theres teh remastered FFX and FFX-2 on the vita ,, which is a superb game. Thats the only latest game out on the vita if i am not mistaken?
While I don't think it's entirely responsible, the only places I see people with handhelds are on long commutes (plane/car ride), at home, or at nerd conventions.
@nikkom -- I did .All of my past exes and the one i am currently dating all knew i was hardcore gamer from the get go. To be fair though. the one i am dating atm and my first ex were both gamers XD
@nikkom --- I can't reedit using my work pc but they loved the fact and didn't mind that i was a gamer. It asn't a turn off for them

I don't think SOA knows what a Vita is anymore. lol!
As for being judged in public when playing a handheld, well... I grew up in the 80's/90's in a family that are devout Christians that considered gaming as a tool of the devil and I still played on. So do I care what the public thinks? Heck no! There's a lot of things that are more important to care about than strangers opinions about my life style.
Besides, the Vita's issues are less about gamers being embarrass to carry it around than Sony screwing things up at the get go.

We have the same issue here in Manila, the capital of the Phillippines xD
So we usually bring out our devices once we reach our destination, if we ever decided to bring them to begin with. lol!

REPEAT AFTER ME......................Im a gamer, I Love playing Video Games......................
Now that thats out of the way. ThisThe girl that takes selfies all day long, the guy thats posting photos of random things on IG all day long and the old lady on the train that face is glued to her iphone screen all have one thing in common........ Their enjoying what their doing. And one thing is for sure, they dont give a rats a$$ what you think of them at that moment.
The Vita is the victim of both the smatrphone boom along with the lack of siginature software. For the Vita to really take off it needs a few things. Here is a list.
A new Vita Gran Theft Auto game.
Gran Turismo Vita
A true Call Of Duty Vita game
Metal Gear Solid Vita game
A memory card price adjustment. 32 should not cost more than $25. With that, digital downloads will increase.
The Vita is not dead, quite the oposite, its doing very well. Take a look at the last 5 plus months and you would see that the Vita has outsold the Wii-U, 360 and at times the PS3.
Japan Vita sales are very healthy, its the US that is lagging, but as I stated before, If sony can add these games to the Vita library and release them in a bundle, the Vita will take off here in the US.
But back to the OP. Im 43, and I play my Vita on the train, the bus and out in public all the time, and im no different from the millions of citizens that has their faces stuck on that digital screen enjoying my life.
