Forums - Sony - Is the Last of Us Remastered a system seller, or just something to fill a gap in the release schedule?

That's good news. Considering how much people wanted a ps4 port (ex 360 owners included) I'm confident this can sell some systems. In other words is a bit of both.

It's barely a gap filler. It'll push as many systems as FFX Remastered. In other words, it won't.

For me, The Last of Us on PlayStation 3 was a major deciding factor in which console I would buy this generation, so to hear that I will be able to play a game I missed out on as an Xbox 360 owner is incredible! I bought my PlayStation 4 hoping that this would happen, so you could say that the game was selling systems even before it was announced. At least in my case it was! The fact that it will fill a gap is merely icing on the cake for Sony.

It'd definitely be a system seller. And TLOU will have a great chance at further increasing it's current total sales by a considerable extent.

It'll predominantly be a gap filler but probably the best gap filler anyone could hope for. There'll be plenty of people who skipped on PS3 and may purchase a PS4. Being able to try out Last of Us on PS4 is just the right amount of icing on the PS4 cake.

Its to cash in from everyone who is and will be buying PS4's but didnt have PS3's... and everyone who wants to play a better version of it again.

Its more interesting to think why they relaunched dead nation for PS4... an old game which wasnt extremely successful, and was given away for free on PS3 in the past... and again on PS4. Sequel incoming?

Just checked it out on the PS Store and it's still pretty close to full price. The PS4 version will probably include all the DLC as well.

Every gamer should have the chance to play this game!

It's going to make me buy a PS4. So there you go.

I expect it to do well and have some nice legs getting to 2-3 million. If the Tomb Raider can do what it did I see no reason for Last of Us to not have strong sales.

That's not a valid comparison. Tomb Raider is like comparing Black Flag PS3 to Black Flag PS4. Same game, but different versions. What TLoU PS4 is doing is basically a TLoU 1.5 HD Remix. Tomb Raider was Tomb Raider with PS4 graphics, not uprezzed PS3 graphics.

You can't say that.

For all you know it might end up looking every bit a PS4 game.
