So in general there isn't a 8x performance difference between the versions as expected from hw power difference. And people tried to justify it wasn't possible on PS4.

Which cross-gen title currently shows such a performance difference? And who tried to justify it wasn't possible on PS4?

None and no one. Someone's just makin's stuff up. If anything people were thinking the 360 version would be deliberately gimped, but obviously that didn't happen, nor would EA do that, they like making money.

There aren't any cross gen titles that demonstrate an 8x performance difference period.

The difference for cross gen releases should be largely in the frame rates and native render resolutions although this hasn't necessarily been the case.

Additional advantages should include updated lighting, shaders and particle effects plus additional simulations for things like water, hair, fire and other visuals that require more processing power. Cleaner, sharper texture work using higher resolution texture maps if available (for older games) should be used as well.

Frankly, I'm not sure what some people are, or are pretending to have expected out of the 8th gen given that the main advantages a top of the line gaming PC with thousands of dollars worth of VGA cards and components provides is higher resolutions, smoother frame rates and additional effects.

With regards to Titanfall, sounds like XB360 owners still get the comprehensive Titanfall experience without having to invest in a new console.

I think there was already a thread by ethomaz (as usual).

There was but it got hairy so it was locked. This one doesn't seem too bad right now so open it shall remain!

As others have said all I care about is if it plays well. I can deal with the lower framerate and the loss of a few textures so long as the gameplay is the same.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

They did good work but wow the game is ugly and is missing many of the appealing aesthetics of the PC/Xbone versions. One of the best things about the game is the Titan vs Titan combat and it looks do dull and neutered on 360.

But they say the gameplay and features are identical, performance is like for like. So shouldn't it be just as much fun. Or do resolution and effects matter for fun gameplay after all? I certainly enjoy that new console smell and shine as well, not enough though to wait for the pc version of DS2 for example.

Back in my competitive online multiplayer days I do agree that resolution matters, effects however are just in the way after the wow factor wears off. Ofcourse on console everyone is locked into the same resolution and frame rate, no advantage to be had.

Oh, I found the old thread...

But to bold: Exactly and this is what keeps me currently from buying a next-gen console. Next-gen only titles are not getting me currently to invest so much money in a console. No Infamous, no Forza, no Killzone, no dead rising...

They have to build a big library to get my money - until now next-gen is in no way attractive to me.

Resolution no. Sound effects and visuals effects of course can affect fun factor.

Idk about wearing off. I have over 70 hours in the game and sounds and visual impact of Titan battles is still one of the best things about the game to me. Hasn't worn off yet. That said, there's nothing really wrong with the 360 version. I would have liked to see them poo up the textures and even frame rate a bit more and keep more of the Titan stuff in the game.

The thread was locked for a reason, you know.

Let's just drop the topic and get back to the thread at hand.
