Forums - Nintendo - Smash on 3DS releases first and has it's own unique game mode. Does Nintendo realize the message that gives about Wii U?

tbh I'm flabbergasted. In one sense its insane, and the other its brilliant. The only way to know is to see the results and guess what would occur if they did it differently.

What if the wiiu is gonna have an unique mode but they are gonna announced it later?

They really should release both in the same time however... that part was retarded

Agreed on the first part, but for the second think that if they release at the same time fans will have to choose between 3DS and Wii U, now they can buy both as they are not releasing at the same time.

The 3DS will promote the Wii U version. Which by the way will have superior controls and visuals, in addition to its own unique modes.

I am pretty sure they will show a wii u only mode on the E3 presentation. This direct was more focused on the 3DS version imo.

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

The message it sends is that Nintendo is commited to deliver quality software more than they are at selling systems.

I am convinced wii u will have its own exclusive mode aswell though. It probably wasnt ready to be shown.

Mario Kart 8 will carry the console until Smash comes out, you'll see that in due time non-believer.

I know (at least I think I do) that you're joking, but like I said I'm just concerned and disappointed more than anything.  I also don't think MK8, as great as it will be, is going to have a long term impact

Of course it won't have a long term impact. Super Mario 3D World was a huge game last year but it showed weak legs. This is because the Wii U itself is poor at selling software, and will probably continue to do so for the duration of it's life span.

Not even Mario Kart is capable of creating a sustained interest because the console itself is not appealing. And if Mario Kart can't, then probably nothing Nintendo releases will ever change that fact.

Who said that the Wii U version will not have exclusive modes?

Yep.

Actually I think its a stroke of evil genius on Nintendo's part; up until now IS thought they only had good guy genius.

This increases exposure of the series and I think the 3DS version is gonna get people thinking how nice it would be to play big-screen and local multiplayer. The release date difference is just long enough for that to set in. Its nearly EA style in its questionable consumer manipulation but it should work.

I feel like the Wii U is just some fucking science experiment "lets see how many times we can fuck up and what crazy shit we can do until people stop buying our products". I feel like im part of some marketing experiment to see what ideas they can see prove to work or not.
