Hey im just saying, i dont really think there has been a lot of attacking on this subject.  Just one group excited that their console is going to get a performance boost, and another group trying to crush all hopes.  This has pretty much been the case for some time now.  

And while there has been dumb claims like the double stack from MisterXmedia who clearly has an agenda, there has also been clear cut reasons to believe DX12 will improve XBO.  And Im completely fine with people doubting XBO will get double the performance as that is a dramatic increase, but im also not ok with people acting as if there isnt going to be any improvements either.  

Its like i said before, i do not understand why "anybody" could get upset with a console improving.  If you are then you need to relax with the console wars and enjoy your own console.  There is no reason for people to get upset the way youre seeing some people act in the comments.  

Peopel saying people are desperate.  I can quote other comments saying things such as dilusional (not only in this thread) or comments that are sayign we should makeup rumors and make magical numbers up, or even comments calling people fanboys etc.  

Pretty much anytime somebody becomes defensive or says things like the above, that means theyre upset.  And we all know why, console wars.

people can be upset because they are annoyed with having this horse beat on all the time. we recently had a thread about how the SDK will really only help dev time and that the gap could not close. it was filled with people saying we get it, the ps4 is more powerful stop with it. now in less than a week we have a thread about how the xb1 can double its performace(which would put it higher than the ps4).

no one is saying dx wont do anything, but its completely assinine to think itll actually double the performance. People call bs for what it is. if we had a thread about the ps4 doubling its performance, it to would be filled with doubters calling bs

So its "sad" to question things now? Just because this guy is in the know doesnt mean we all need to just accept what he says and go along with it. How many times havent people like this made blatant false claims? I would say its "sad" that some people are so willing to accept it without question, especially after the year we have just come through. Just like the people you claim "desperately dont want this to happen" your post is as bias and agenda driven. 

As for the actual topic - hes initial statement makes it sound as if DX12 somehow gives the X1 double the performance. In reality what DX12 does is make better use of the hardware ie. better optimised. Thats a bit ironic as consoles inevetably become as efficient as possible. What i hope they mean is that DX12 will allow for that process to happen quicker.

At the end of the day the X1 has pretty weak hardware and i think its an accomplishment what they have already done with it. Considering that things will only get better from here on in and software optimisation will continue, its going to be really interesting to see whats possible in the coming years.

I see the desperation continues, if a graphics API could double the performance of any GPU, that would be front page news on every single Tech website, it would be a revelation of epic proportions.

The cloud-->DX12-->ESRAM-->cloud secret sauce cycle is getting shorter. ESRAM awesomeness should be along by Friday, or early next week.

As i said, after so many rumors either being completely false or not meeting expectations, you'd expect people to have learnt their lesson and be more skeptical. Those who outright believe this are forcing their hand into a fire that's already burnt them several times over. It's not surprising some are calling them "desperate" or "delusional".

Show me 1 link where mantle is 100% improvement on DX11, highest ive seen is 40% and this is at peak not an average, and guess what this news was a revelation and on the front of every tech website, it wasnt revealed by a dude on a webcam in his parents back room. 

Mantle performance increase was also because it allows PCs to have close to the metal performance that consoles have always enjoyed. Mantle will not give any performance increase to consoles. 

Dont get me wrong of course DX12 will improve xb1 performance, it will have multiple graphical API updates througout its lifetime that will be better optimised use new techniques and slowly increase its performance, but this will be the same for all graphics hardware for all platforms.
