Forums - Nintendo - Best Thing That Would Come True In The Upcoming SSB Direct, A Demo (Beta)! [If 8 Characters Would Be In It, Who Would You Pick?]

If I had to pick 8 characters for a beta  in the near future, I'd include a total of 6 veterans and two newcomers. I'm assuming that we'll get a newcomer on Tuesday, so them, Mega Man (the most hyped newcomer at the moment), and these six veterans should be in it.

  • Mario (Because duh)
  • Link (The sole swordsman)
  • Kirby (Sakurai's other big series)
  • Pikachu (You need one of them Pokemans)
  • Samus (Reggie wore that Metroid pin for a reason)
  • Donkey Kong (A heavier fighter, following up Tropical Freeze)

Little Mac should be included as a possible substitute for any of the above fighters.

 

Then, the day Mario Kart 8 comes out, maybe they release an update including Bowser, Luigi, Yoshi, and Rosalina to hype people for Mario Kart.

 

Finally, when the game is actually released, people who got these betas before release can download the game for a lower price than usual at retail. It could be as little as $10, but that would still encourage people to buy a Wii U well in advance of Smash Bros.

I hope we either get a demo or a release date. Otherwise the Direct would seem pointless. Though that certainly wouldn't be the first time to get a pointless ND so I won't get my hopes up and just enjoy what they got to show. Even if it would just be a new stage or a returning character or whatever.

Actually, thinking about it, I don't really want a demo. Would make the wait for the full game even more unbearable. Actually, announcing a release date would do the same thing. So just give me some new stages or characters or whatever

I think 8 characters is too many for a beta. This is how I would set the beta up.

5 min matches
3 arenas (Cycle)
5 characters (1 hidden, unlocked after ten consecutive matches, unannounced for surprise)

1. Mario
2. Pikachu
3. Link
4. Kirby
---
5. Mega Man

Yes cuz there was never a great demo for nintendo games lol

No need to be negative, Your acting like there isnt a first for everything. Wii Online wasnt good then we got MKWii for example.

A game with no voice chat, no parties and awful matchmaking where you could be waiting an entire race before you got to race yourself.  Cheats everywhere.

...and no, most Nintendo games still do not have demos, they're like chickens teeth.



but wat does this necessarily have to do with a beta? its not like its impossible. And yes they are behind in alot of things, but that has nothing toexactly do with this topic. Like i said previously, you have to start somewhere. If they haven't done it, doesn't mean they never will

Besides there are alot of non WiiU owners and are only waiting on SSB. TBH I Think SSB will push more than MK but thats me. MK is the safer bet.

I also really think Smash will push more than Mario Kart. While it will be a great game mario kart is not a game people will buy a console alone but smash has been on the top memorable/definitive games for the past two nintendo consoles.

Also, you guys seem to always forget that SSB4 is multiplatform! The Wii U version probably isn't even half the system seller Mario Kart 8 is now because of that.

I think SSB will have a bigger impact, especially first week. But overall MK8 will push wiiu's especially holiday!
