I don't know why people think he is so great. He is the reason for most of Nintendos problems.

Uh without him we have no Nintendo the greatest video game company ever.

That is true but he is also the reason why Nintendo is a tough spot with third parties. I do hold Iwata accountable for not imroving that situation, but don't gloss over the fact that Yamauchi was the one responsible for burning the brige with 3rd party developers.

Takashi Tezuka.

The first time I interviewed him back in 2005, I knew this guy had Nintendo in his blood an would possibly one day be a respected leader. At the time, he was just mainly a producer at EAD. Now he's a General Manager that sits equal to Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

If we need someone with more business understanding, Tetsuya Takahashi of Monolith soft (founder and still current director) would be valid.

True but toward the end of his tenure he did try to repair the relationships. By handing over Nintendo franchises like Star Fox and F-Zero to NAmco and Sega and allowing them to make arcade machines for them. He also had Nintendo put up money to get Developers like Square Enix  to make games for Nintendo system, although the most Nintendo really got out of it on their consoles was the Crystal Chronicles sub series.

But even with all that he showed a willingness to adapt while smartly pushing limits which sadly hasn't been the case with the most recent Nintendo console.

I don t believe Iwata can get it done - he is putting Nintendo in a big hole that is going to require large investments a fair amount of risk and willingness/ ability to operate much faster than Nintendo and Iwata have in the past- I just don t see him being able to make needed. Transitions ( whatever they end up being) -

I think it sucks because I think Iwata is correct on his views re going mobile and/ or 3 rd party only - Hopefully whoever s the next CEO of Nintendo has the same basic philosophy re mobile and hardware - But you never know what the next guy will do and Iwata s poor execution gives investors who want to make those type of changes more leverage

Regardless, if he is indeed under pressure then that can only be good for the Wii u- But neither Iwata or Nintendo still do not seem to have a sense of urgency re the Wii u- so it makes me think he may have the right shareholders and board members in his camp unequivocally
