Forums - Gaming - The Xbox One is fighting back

USA and UK are the only substantial markets where Xb one will really compete with PS4. Some of the minor markets too, like Aussie and NZ, but PS4 will still win these markets by a reasonable margin.

Xb one is fighting back, but it's not going to make a PS3-like comeback.

If X1 locks US and UK it will be enough for MS.

That's where most of gamers and money at.

Well, last gen even though the ps3 had less sales in both the US and UK, it has still slipped past the x360 in sales. I dont think winning a single region or only English-speaking countries will be even close to enough for the x1. And lets face it, the ps4 vs x1 battle is neck and neck in both these areas.

Well yeah...what's the other option? Sit back and watch the ship sink? They have WAY too much money invested to let that happen.

I still have doubts that they'll really be able to turn the sales around to the extent some people seem to be expecting. This month they pretty much came out with everything they had and it really didn't have the transformative effect you would expect.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Xb one already has those markets locked, even if Xb one doesn't win in theose markets it's been selling well enough to guarantee a sustainable install base. And while you're right that the money from those markets will come and be good for MS, Xb one total sales, as well as market share will shrink in the majority of other markets compared to 360 and thus the gen will be seen as MS suffering from the curse of the 3rd generation, the same as Sony suffered a serious loss in it's 3rd generation, Nintendo's 3rd generation was when it lost it's place as the number one console.

Those 2 regions are the ones where most games and other medium sales happen.

Also where there are more console online gaming subscribers reside. Where consumers have more will to buy services.

I think MS will be pretty happy with those 2 and a bit of South America.

Good for MS. Good for the consumer/gamers. Good for the industry. Lets see how aggressive they can get. It'll force Sony to be all the more aggressive as well. When that happens we all win.

This very well could be one of the if not the best generation for gaming in quite some time. VR, more focus on higher resolutions and frame rates, more choices with regards to games and how they are purchased. Good old fashioned corporate competition for the all mighty consumer dollar.

I don't believe in superstition and Max already showed that if such a thing exists he'll hunt it down... mercilessly.

I'd also like to point out that the Xbox One needs to do more than just outsell the PS4 in the English speaking world if it plans on being competitive this generation.

March so far has been the big hip-hip-hooray month so far for Xbox, and it's being outsold by 143K units. That number will swell to probably 165-170K by the end of the month. That's several times the number of units the Xbox One will have made up in the U.S. this month.

Things like 3rd party support aren't based on sales in a particular region, they're based on total sales. The farther behind the Xbox One falls the more difficult things will become.

Edit: I also don't really think this month is good evidence that the Xbox One will win the UK. They're up by what? 7K units so far this month? Even that number will probably shrink or even dissapear once we get the numbers for next week. They're behind by 228k units in the Uk...Only 33 months to go...

They sure are. If the price drop and 2 incredible bundles are any indication of their commitment to the console, I can't wait to see what they have for E3.

Good for gamers. Besides the crap of "winning" make your system worth a buy with many great games. Games don't get better if the system leads in the overall market. And MS, make it way cheaper.
But really, nobody can say MS doesn't put effort in the Xbone. Some just don't give it enough credit - whether they can't or won't, I don't know.
