Forums - Gaming - Sony lied to me.

I can't even limit this to Sony discussion forum all vgc need to know.

Sony promissed that cell would evolve with time and that every cell powered device you own would lend their unused power to another cell powered device in need.

I done my part and bought tv, microwave, washing machine, dishwashe, fridge, refrigerator and cellphone all with cell processor.

But even after waiting 6 years I still haven't spot a new pixel in any of my games. I'm tired of waiting for greatness, will they deliver faster on ps4 or I'll die waiting for it? Do you also fell cheated by sony?

But a gaming skynet would be a lot better than matrix. And cloud is trying to reintroduce skynet, will they suceed?

In fact I'm pretty sure they keep using it for their servers, or at least they will for playstation now. Cell clusters are really powerful.

They had high hopes. Didn't quite pan out the way they planned. At least they cured cancer.

Pushing cell was a mistake, by the time the devs learned how to use it properly, most gaming PCs already surpassed the PS3 by a longshot. They learned from that and made the PS4 use standard x86 architecture.

That's more or less what I'm thinking; the whole Cell period seems like an enormous waste, there were other and more efficient multicore processors being developed and sold at the time, and they were all cheaper alternatives with kinder coding environments.

I'll never understand the Cell, I guess it could be Sony wanting to push a chipset archetype to gain a foothold as an overall provider (not unlike the formats over the years), they had the muscle to flex after the PS2's staggering success. The Cell remains a huge mistake though, possibly their biggest one in two decades or so.

GPUs destroyed the cell completely.

Sony wasn't able to make Android 17 and 18

So we had to settle for imperfect cell
