Forums - Microsoft - Infamous did NOT outsell Titanfall on Xbox One's opening numbers

Considering no one knows the digital attach rate, what is even the point? Titanfall could have another 50% digital sales to inFamous' 10% or viseversa. Until we get some official numbers there is no evidence to prove either argument. They both sold well and are helping push hardware.

inFamous is a B-tier franchise for Sony. Titanfall only doing 200k more considering it's supposed to carry the entire platform is kind of pathetic to be honest. inFamous is not the one that looks bad in this comparison.

Infamous will never have as wide of appeal compared to FPS. I am not sure who predicted that Second Son would crush Titanfall. I don't remember seeing post like that. I always thought it might be close due to the PS4 larger install base.

There was lots of people predicitng that. Here are some threads with predictions:

Lots? I just looked through all three of those and there are maybe a handful you could say think it will "crush". Most of the responses are doubt it or are hopeful but give caveats that are needed to achieve outselling(not crushing...).

Also I get the vibe that two(at least one) of those are talking lifetime. It hasn't even been a month. Either could outsell the other. But it doesn't matter who outsells, just that they both sell well.

Almost no one claimed Infamous would outsell Titanfall. The other Infamous games were not mega sellers, and TF is an online FPS which claims to be made by the "real" CoD MW teams... I am shocked how well Infamous did. I predicted 700k w/ a 90+ score and 450k with a low 80s score so it blew my predictions away.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I'm not surprised, but a lot of people were arguing Infamous SS would crush Titanfall. You'd think it would, being one of the only full retail releases on PS4, a console with a higher install base. But I think the fans were ignoring the fact that being a glowing purple superhero was more niche than Titanfall. Not knocking Infamous, and the game blew away the prior installments in the series. But that's just the thing: the series before had pretty small launch numbers. It's a cool and loved series, just not a huge mainstream one.

Anyway, I know people think I'm against Sony. I am not. I don't want this to seem like I'm bashing them. I have a lot of respect for them and they make a ton of great stuff, PS4 included.

kinda surprised an xbox fan is using the argument of sales being concentrated on fewer games.

No xbox fans could accept that when I said that about 360... but put it into context of a PS4 and all of a sudden it stats making sense. lol what a joke.

Lets not forget titanfall was hyped up as the "COD killer" and "game of the generation" so infamous did really well.

I love that people are using the "inFamous did really well" excuse now that it was outsold. I thought the reason that Titanfall X1 woulndn't sell as much was because its also on PC and Xbox 360. While true that sales would have drastically grown if it wasn't on those platforms it is on them. While inFamous is a TRUE exclusive that couldn't outsell a multiplat on ONE platform.

I love that people are justifying titanfall sales when it was supposed to be the next COD killer and game of the generation and online-only is meant to be far superior to SP only. On the other hand "Infamous is a flop"

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=180462&page=

People are just insecure because one of sony's exclusives which isnt anywhere near the biggest one came out and did close to what titanfall did with all its hype as being such a revolutionary fps.

Also I also love how now the emphasis on it being a multiplat is finally showing... a factor which many already explains in prediction threads. But I dont blame you, at that time every X1 fan was ignoring the other platforms titanfall was going to be released on and treating it like it was X1 only. You also shouldnt forget that a lot of PS4 fans bought titanfall on PC so the multiplatform argument actually goes against X1.

It was never intended to be humrous, we're just talking about sales.

I always thought Titanfall was gonna sell more than inFamous

Pretty much this. Idk about Infamous 3 but anecdotal evidence leads me to believe Titanfall has a huge digital footprint. Official numbers will be the only ones worth comparing imho.

What "tier" a franchise is in during a previous generation is irrelevant when its a launch window title for a new system. Sony knew exactly what they were doing launching it when they did. Much like EA knew Titanfall would get a lot more exposure launching during the dry months right after launch.

I mean, wouldn't you also consider Resistance to be a "B-tier" franchise? It was a launch window title and it ended up outselling the two sequels combined. Launch window games sell more. Not only that but the PS4 has a 2,500,000+ userbase advantage, and Xbone sales of Titanfall are cannibalized by PC and 360 sales.

I posted numerous times that I expected Infamous to sell more, honestly given those parameters, it should have. Titanfall is currently over 400k ahead, I would expect Infamous to eventually pass it, especially once the 360 version of TF launches, and the sequel comes out. That should be an area where Infamous 3 really makes up ground. Once Titanfall 2 is out and presumably is out on all platforms, there will be no reason for anyone to buy TF1. Meanwhile who knows when/if another Infamous will drop.

Idk why either game has to "look bad" here. Infamous 3 will probably go on and be the highest selling game of the franchise and it has given PS4 owners something to play since there is little else right now. Titanfall has provided a good boost to hardware sales and provided Xbone owners something amazing to play in a time where there is little else.
