Why would they possibly do that? Turn-based JRPGs play very well on touch screen devices. Just tap a location and you walk there. Turn based combat is also incredibly simple on touch enabled devices.

Not to mention there is also a gigantic userbase to tap into.

Never had any issues when I played FFIII on the DS with touch controls only.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
