best selling games on vita and psp are console like games that means not everybody think like you,vita lack of big home console like ip and that's why it struggling,aren't indie game better suited to handheld why it didn't help vita hardware sale.
The reasons i buy psp and vita is because i can play console ip on handheld.



PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I agree. Linear movie like games are best on consoles, but huge games that are played for much longer seem to fit best on handhelds.

PSP emulator on my andriod phone, plays Persona 3 Portable with no hiccups.

Yeah, I never quite understood console like games on handhelds. I like playing games like Cut the Rope, Where's my Water or Bad Piggies on tablet...staring at those little screens and playing anything remotely serious is bit tedious for me, tbh.

Smartphone gaming can blow me. I prefer my complex and intricate games on handhelds. I want a full fledge experience on the go, not some watered down, repetitive, mindless minigame.
