Yeah, and those products are obviously going to be taken off the receivers list and no longer sold. As for, "how so?", simple...have you ever not been able to afford something but still valued it? Still put forth the effort of thinking about that item that you've always wanted but could never have? 99% of the worlds population falls under that category, and thats giving more credit than is due.

Feelings make no difference to what's actually happening ... There are many things the world isn't able to afford but what's being purchased makes an actual difference than what's not.

How do you know that these consumers value the high end more than the low end ? Do you have any sort of statistics to back up your claims ? I'm using sales so what are you using ?

What does making a difference have to do with value? What?

@ Bold - I don't know, that's exactly the point. I'm talking about what I know (myself) and your assuming what consumers value based on what they buy, not what they prefer. I used an analogy to put forth a likely scenario, do you disagree that most people would choose a Lambo over a Honda Civic?

As I have said two times before, you can generalize all you want, but you are going to get very mixed results. Value is inconclusive without said opinion of consumer (which we don't have). You're using sales as a way to measure value but you don't know why each person bought what they did. It could be preference it could be loyalty, it could be many things, and we both know it is many things.

You can not discern an item having value because of the peoples said opinions ... Value is resolved by what products the market demands most.

I wouldn't know the outcome would be ... Consumers have a somewhat strange buying habbits. They'll determine what's good enough or what should be high end.

The opinion of the consumers is already determined by the sales. If you see extremely high sales then it can be concluded that the said product is simply good. The said reasons why the consumers are buying the product is irrelevant as they look for a solution in each product that fits their needs.

In his biased opinion. Gamers worldwide disagree.

Sigh. Purchasing habits are born out of bias. This is actually objectively comparing the value of the two consoles. It isn't offensive and makes reasonable points.

$450 with a $60 game and expensive Kinect vs $400 with no game or PS camera. It isn't totally crazy to say that the Xbox provides value.

No need to be defensive when PS4 is still outselling regardless.

"objectively" untrue, for many there is only the option of buying one of these consoles, becuase of the price, is not a good value fo buy the one that will have the worst looking multiplayer games for the next 5 or 7 years, and specially knowing sony exclusive have always been higher quality.

In a flat rate comparison, the X1 + Kinect 2 + TF for $450 is obviously better value than the PS4 alone for $400.

Of course, in the real world people don't measure value by flat rates. There are multiple factors that change someones perception of value. An easy example is if you specifically need two bricks (for some reason) and the shop is selling 3 for £10 or 2 for £8. The first of those two deals has an obvious advantage in flat rate value, but if you have no need for that 3rd brick it actually costs more. That example is the reason i felt the X1 was overpriced at launch. The console + Kinect for $500 is actually pretty decent value, but if you (like myself) have no interest at all in the Kinect, it's $400 + a $100 brick. If i was basing my purchase purely on the initial cost, and have no interest in the Kinect, the PS4 was a more powerful system at a cheaper price. Somewhat of a no-brainer.

At $450 though, it's a great deal for anyone who wants an X1 and TF. Even if you dislike the Kinect it's still has about an equal flat rate value as the PS4.

The opinion is not determined by sales, not even close. I thought this forum was over this subject years ago. Quality doesn't equal sales. Just because something sells well doesn't make it good.

Answer this question for me if you will. I've spent about...$300 on Call of Duty in past 5 years. I've spent about $100 on Metal Gear Solid in the past 5 years. Which do I value more based on the data I've provided for you; MGS or CoD?

Opinion IS determined by sales otherwise how else can we guage quality from a said product ?

It's quite clear that you value the call of duty series more ...

And that's where the problem lies. You think value = price. I value MGS ALOT more than CoD. CoD comes out every year MGS doesn't. I've spent more hours on MGS, had more enjoyment, am absolutely satisfied with all the MGS games that I have played in the past five years. CoD? I like picking it up and playing it every now and then but in no way would I choose CoD over MGS if I had to pick. I've spent more money on CoD, sure, but I'd rather play MGS. There is no game series I value more than MGS, I have put more time into it than I have any other game including CoD.

Would you like to change your answer?

Also, its official, CoD is the highest quality series since the inception of CoD 4: MW1. One day I hope TLoU, Uncharted, Zelda series, Metroid series, Mario Galaxy, GTA, Bioshock, Mass Effect or TES series will have as much quality as the CoD series...one day...

The weaker console should be cheaper anyway.

Doesnt exactly make sense. Better deal if you planned to buy a camera as well as Titanfall, otherwise titanfall and the kinect are paper weight you still have to pay for. And its still more than 400$.

Xbox will be going price drop after price drop until they catch up in sales, no need to rush for a purchase. If they already started to drop so early, it tells a lot about how they are going to drop again soon enough...

RIP ps3, xbox360.

welcome home ps4 and X1
