In a flat rate comparison, the X1 + Kinect 2 + TF for $450 is obviously better value than the PS4 alone for $400.

Of course, in the real world people don't measure value by flat rates. There are multiple factors that change someones perception of value. An easy example is if you specifically need two bricks (for some reason) and the shop is selling 3 for £10 or 2 for £8. The first of those two deals has an obvious advantage in flat rate value, but if you have no need for that 3rd brick it actually costs more. That example is the reason i felt the X1 was overpriced at launch. The console + Kinect for $500 is actually pretty decent value, but if you (like myself) have no interest at all in the Kinect, it's $400 + a $100 brick. If i was basing my purchase purely on the initial cost, and have no interest in the Kinect, the PS4 was a more powerful system at a cheaper price. Somewhat of a no-brainer.

At $450 though, it's a great deal for anyone who wants an X1 and TF. Even if you dislike the Kinect it's still has about an equal flat rate value as the PS4.
