innovation (sigh)... Seriously dude, you could just end your post with the title. Instead you decided to make a stealth attack on sony's fanbase with all that talk about the lack of innovation of the ps brand among other things.
anyway, back on topic, wii u is struggling so its only natural to talk about it. I dont think there is a lot of people seriously wishing for Nintendo's decline, but i guess im wrong.

It's not that they are wishing Nintendo's doom. It's just that Nintendo's doom is needed for the industry.
They don't embrace microtransactions and day one DLC. They are a cancer to this industry.

Competition is great, but it exists without the consoles selling similar amounts.
Even if both Nintendo and Microsoft went bankrupt, Sony still has to worry about other companies entering the video game market as well as smartphones and PC. Plus we don't have to talk theoretically. This "lack of competition" has happened before. The PS2 had a huge sales advantage over its competition and yet Sony wasn't free to start being lazy and coast on their prior success. When they did essentially try this with the PS3 launch, Microsoft swooped in and almost destroyed them.
Sony's success is what motivated Nintendo and Microsoft, Nintendo's success is what motivated Microsoft and Sony, Sony was even more motivated by Microsoft's success and also the lack of success of their cocky stance on the PS3. Sony's current success is what will motivate Microsoft (it has already started to some extent) and hopefully Nintendo (the WiiU might be dead for the first place, but this won't be the last generation, it won't be.. right? Anyone? :'( right?) so those who say "They better leave the industry they suck" please go screw yourself on a pole, we've had so many awesome franchises from these Big3 because they felt the need to bring new things on the table to cool down the fire under their feet through the generations and we were there to enjoy them, and we'll hopefully be there to do exactly that in the future.
